A great school overall. Mother was an alumni so glad I got to follow in her footsteps. There are so many places to eat so it is never boring. The library and people working there are extremely helpful. all of the professors are willing to help out, some just might take a day to answer. Would not want to go to antother school

Overall Robert Morris is a great institution. The class sizes are moderate, the students are a fine caliber who aren't a distraction, and the facilities are clean with a nice atmosphere. Only cons I would say are the far distances to walk between classes. There are separate buildings plotted on a lot of land so buy a FitBit. You'll definitely use it.

It is the perfect school for me and my preferences in a school. The academics are challenging enough so that I do not feel like my intelligence is being insulted. The professors all really care about the subject matter s they teach, and they are almost always available. Smaller class sizes make learning easier.

Linda

Robert Morris University is the absolute perfect fit for me. I live nearby, therefore I am a commuter student. However, I did live on campus during my sophmore year. I believe that both situations, commuting and living on campus, are great experiences. Since Robert Morris University is somewhat of a smaller school compared to others, it allows you to form and maintain meaningful friendships and relationships. You are able to have a personal relationship with professors because of the class sizes. as well. I feel as though my professors are so passionate about what they teach and actually care whether we benefit from the class or not. When it comes to the social aspect, there are plenty of ways for students to become involved. I feel as though that it is the perfect balance of academics and social and independent aspects. Robert Morris is the best decision I have made.

Robert Morris University FAQS

  1. What is the Acceptance Rate at Robert Morris University?

The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Robert Morris University is 79%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

My undergraduate degree is in economics. So, on the face of it, I've learned countless terms and formulas, graphs and charts, analyses and research methods as part of the economics curriculum. These things are what I received because I made my tuition payments. However, the aggregate of what I've gotten out of my experience is inifinitely more. I discovered who I am. I discovered, fully and completely what I enjoy and conversely, what I do not. I was exposed to cultures and perspectives I had previously known next to nothing about; I even got to live those cultures through a semester abroad. I saw different people and how they viewed the world; how they took the same stimuli I was receiving and analyzed it, processed it and eventually came up with an answer. I took all of these things and developed my own personal process to determine what is worthy of belief and what is not. My college experience did more than teach me what GDP is or where to invest my money. It showed me who I am, what I stand for and most importantly, why I stand for them.

  7. What is your overall opinion of this school?

My favorite thing about RMU is that it is close to the city of Pittsburgh (15-20 minute drive), but it doesn't have the feel of a city campus. I love going jogging around the nature trails on RMU's extensive property, I love that my friends and classes are so close that I don't have to take a bus, and I love feeling secure on campus, no matter what the time of day or night. One complaint about the school is that because so many students live close, a decent amount go home on the weekends - but that doesn't mean all the students do. There is always something to do or people to hang out with, regardless if it is a weekday or weekend. For being a D-1 school, there is not as much "RMU pride" as one would expect, but the Colonial Crazies student section has been growing since the success of the sports teams in the last few years.

  8. What are the academics like at your school?

Class sizes are small, even in some of the more general classes. Professors (even ones I haven't had) know my name, or at least recognize my face around campus. One complaint from students is that there are a lot of part-time instructors, but I haven't personally had any trouble with having a part-time professor. I like how RMU sets up classes on an online "checksheet" so students can easily see what classes they've taken and still need to take. Depending on the class/major, I would say RMU is easier than most schools, with a smaller workload (exception: the communication skills classes) and lots of opportunity for tutoring and help outside the classroom if needed.

  9. What kind of person should not attend this school?

I dont think there is a type of person that shouldn't attend Robert Morris. I've met so many different people so it seems like almost everyone can attend Robert Morris without having an social or educational problems. Robert Morris has so many offices to help you with any type of problem you may have, and they set up many events to get to know other students. They bridge the gap between high school and college.

  10. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

The most frustrating thing at my school is that it has the most acreage of any school around but only uses 1/4 of it and does nothing with the other 3/4 of it. In my opinion i think they should do something with it to make money for the school and which would lower the cost for students.

  12. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish that I would have known how to study properly. In high school I was never asked to read text books, but almost all of my college classes require text book reading. This has been a great challege but I am working hard to overcome my weaknesses. I also wish I would have known more about all of the different services offered by the school. There was a lot that I didn't take advantage of my first semester because I didn't know about it. I am now getting involved in many different aspects of the college experience.

  18. Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

Unlike most schools in the U.S., RMU has become an overcooked casserole where all of the ingredients melt and blend together to create one cohesive dish. The general stereotype is the ‘average joe’, not many people are driving brand new Mercedes, but on the other end of the spectrum, not many people came from an extremely poor family. The students at RMU float in the middle of every category, for example, race, religion, wealth, and geographical location. Yes, there are a few groups that compete with the main stereotype; the main one is the ‘athlete’. About one in five students is an athlete for the university. Therefore it is a powerful group on campus, plus there is no other stereotype as large as the amount of athletes on RMU’s campus. Also, there are a few smaller stereotypes such as the art students, nurses and business majors. Although there is a range of various characters on campus the umbrella stereotype is the ‘average joe’.
