Rock Valley College Top Questions

Describe the students at your school.

Diana

Many of my classmates are respectful and each have their own unique story.

Kyle

Ahh yes, students. Many of them are home schooled, which makes an interesting experience for myself. Almost all of them are from the rockford area, and 'middle' class. Political activism is not a standard in our catalog in conversation, so sadly we lack in that area. I suppose ignorance, in the not-so derogatory sense is the best way to describe us.

Jessica

Most of my classmates are younger than I, and seem to be there for a good time.

Brianne

To answer this question honestly, it depends on the classroom. In some of my classes, my classmates ahve been very talkative and sociable, and in other classes, they do not talk at all; in the classes where my classmates do talk, they are very nice, helpful, and motivated students; however, in the classes that no one really talks in, my classmates a) are very serious and focused on the subject material to make any friends or b) do not really care about that particular class, and are just taking it to recieve a credit needed for furthering their schooling career.

Rachel

I am glad my classmates have the same will power and eagerness to learn and help one another.

Jessica

Since I am attending a community college, my classmates are not the average college students in that many of them have full-time jobs and families to think about on top of the stress of taking college classes.

Elizabeth

I see my classmates as being divided under two categories. First are the students who are at a community college because they are transitioning between high school and college and would like the experience or are unsure of their major. These students tend to be more applied to their studies. The second group is students who are there only because they have to be and have no desire to be in school. Community college is there for them to get a degree and move on in life without really applying themselves to school.
