Rockhurst University Top Questions

There is a lot of tension between the school and the surrounding neighborhood, and a lot of misunderstandings on the part of both the students and the neighborhood.

I wanted to obtain a degree in Communications with emphasis in journalism/Broadcasting. Rockhurst offers the degree during day, but not in the evening and because of my responsiblities, I cannot attend school during the day. Most schools do not have a broadcasting program in the evening.

I think the worst thing about my school is the size. Rockhurst University is a pretty small school so there is not that much variety in ethnic backgrounds because most of the students come from three certain cities.

I consider the worst thing at my school is the price of food. They should have it where you swipe your id card and can eat however much you want. Instead, they charge you for each thing you get no matter how many times you go eat.

sometimes the campus feels too small and you just need to take a break and get away for a weekend. perfect opportunity to visit friends at other schools :)

The school could really use a little more school spirit.

The location can be kind scarry especially if you grow up in the KC area but the campus overall is pretty safe

The worst thing about Rockhurst is the inability of the Financial Aid Assistants to help in any way. They feel it is more appropriate to try to give more aid to the students coming in than to giving it to the ones graduating soon.

I think the neighborhood around the school is the worst because it is somewhat unsafe. You have to be very careful about what time you go out and if you're going out alone. I personally would never go anywhere off campus alone at night. The school security does do a great job keeping students safe though.

How much the students drink.

The worst thing about this school is that because we are such a small school that some things are out of reach. The school spirit is not as strong as it should be, mostly because we do not have a lot of people. I feel this would be greater if we had a football field or a really popular and excelerated sport. A major rival or more important games may help as well.

The worst thing about my school is the close-mindedness of the student body. Students are very sheltered and conservative in their approach to life and other people they encounter.

Rockhurst is very small and doesnt provide enough options as far as acedemics and degrees offered. Tha campus and people get old really fast and it doesnt take long before your wanting to be somewhere else.
