Rockland Community College Top Questions

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

Natasha

I wish I had known earlier on about the support services available to me, for example the disabilities office which can provide accommodations, counseling, and finally tutoring in the tutoring center.

Matthew

Although I think most of the professors are good, the administrators seem a bit disorganized. With that said, I entered the Honors program thinking that all of my credits would transfer over. Although most will, it wasn't the slam dunk I was led to believe while doing the investigation.

Erin

I wish I had known how under staffed the college is and how incompetent many of the teacher there are.

Marie

There is honestly nothing I wish I had known before coming to Rockland Community College. As I grew up in the area, many events were held at the college. I attended many of these events and was familiar with the layout of the school and where everything was as well as the atmosphere of the school. There is honestly nothing I would have cared to known in other areas because part of the experience was starting new and learning new things.

Rockland Community College, and many other community colleges have been coined "13th" grade by many of its incoming freshman, myself included. I didn't expect much of a challenge from my professors. I found myself cramming the notes I barely took into my brain minutes before the tests, and handing in assignments late. There are no re-takes or excused tardiness. I began to adapt to the college lifestyle, and give myself plenty of time to plan, study, and ask for help when needed. After failing out my first semester, and withdrawing the second; I turned my attitude around.
