Rollins College Top Questions

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

Cassandra

The only concern is that there is definitely a socio-economic division between students. You have students who can afford to attend school based on their parent's/personal socio-economic status and then you have students who are there on merit/need based financial aid. That division can cause riffs due to the expectation of needing to have designer items or the best car or silly things like that.

The worst thing is that we are not the most diverse school you could find. Rollins is a private school and there's a certain class of people that attend it. You can find people from different backgrounds but you really have to look.

If a student does not have financial aid the expense would be the worst part about the school. It costs a lot to live on campus for the day program so some students find themselves going into a lot of debt.

The loan department is awful. I applied for a loan, didn't use it and never saw the check. Now I'm getting billed for money I never used.

The school is changing and there are growing pains. There is a sudden crackdown on drinking and it puts a lot of stress and pressure on students. The number of alcohol violations have tripled, yet the system for dealing with those violations has stayed the same so obviously it is bogged down adn pretty ineffective. There really is not a good way to blow off steam. The top administration jumps to decisions without really consulting the student body and it puts the students in bad situations.

The worst thing about Rollins was it's distance from my hometown of Baltimore Maryland because I saw my friends and family very seldomly as a result.
