Compared to the other Rutgers campuses, I truly think Camden tops because they just have everything I was looking for in a school. While they may not be the best, I am happy I chose the school. I would say the other students and faculty are what makes the school because they give that welcoming feeling.

This is a research school. This means that the professors (at least in my experience) care more about, or are better at, their research than actually teaching the students. I'm transferring because they don't have my major that I switched to, which is education. For such a "prestigious" school it baffles me that they don't have one, but I never really felt at home there so it doesn't bother me too much. It's a small campus, and the people are friendly for the most part, but there isn't that feeling that you're attending college. It kind of just feels like various buildings you walk into to learn. Then again, I was a commuter student so this also factors into it. Since it's in one of the most dangerous cities in America, you have to be careful. It's in a safe area of Camden, but still. There used to be a methadone clinic that they moved, so walking in City Hall during the AM was kind of scary. Even though it's a commuter school, they severely lack housing to the point that it's basically a competition to see who can get in first. There's a student that travels from Delaware, and I know someone who traveled from North Jersey every day because they couldn't get housing. That's ridiculous. Oh, and don't even get me started on the food situation. They changed the dining hall situation, when it was perfectly fine before. The food was good, a little pricey, but good. They tried to make it better and instead made it worse. The students have complained, but Rutgers rarely listens to us. All in all, I think that it's a school that only cares about money and not enough about its faculty and students.

Rutgers University-Camden is an amazing institution. The professors, students, and faculty are always present to help and genuinely like to see the students succeed. This campus is filled with organizations and resources for students to use. As a student, you will never feel alone. There is always someone there to help or simply cheer you on!

Hira - 02/19/2020

It is a smaller campus than most, but I actually like the knit feeling it brings. There is a Starbucks in the campus center, which is always a plus for those of us that get up bright and early. A few buildings require an ID to be flashed at the security guards which makes me feel safer. Another pro about this school is that the grading system does not include minuses, so it is very easy to get a good GPA. The only con here for me is parking. First of all, it is overpriced. And second, the parking lots are a little far from the main campus and the shuttles that come to the lots take too long and often cannot accommodate everyone in need of a ride, especially during bad weather,
