The library on the Douglass Campus at Rutgers is one of the best places to study on campus. There are often many students in the library preparing for classes, while drinking coffee and having a quiet conversation. Students can sit on the ground level where there are couches and chairs, enticing students to relax and read. Wireless internet and high tech computers are also readily available for students working on papers. Students can also sit on the top level where there is a quiet room for studying or the ground level where seating is available amongst the book shelfs.

There are opportunities to meet new people every day, as well as opportunities to become very involved. I think this is important because college is an important time to develop friendships, alliances, and social networks. Involvement also enhances your overall experiences. It is more diverse than most colleges, which offers many opportunities for students to be exposed to cultures, religions, ethnicities, viewpoints, political beliefs, etc. that are different thant their own. This is helpful in expanding your knowledge and gaining different perspectives, which can be beneficial to your everyday life and future.

Honestly, although there is alot of negative I can think about, Rutgers is one of the most diverse institutions out there. Turn any corner and you will be given an eyeful of Chinese, Arab, Korean, Black, Chilean, and maybe even sometime Papa New Guinean. It is quite amazing how there are so many different races and ethnicities. Coming from the South it was an almost cultural shock, that was gotten over very quickly. It really makes up for alot that I felt negative about the school. Maybe even deletes the negative.

Akash

Janet

the amount of choice. it offers many different majors.

People are accepting of the abundant cultural and ethnic diversity as well as the social diversity. Not everyone socializes in the same ways, and students appreciate that at Rutgers. At a house party, it is not uncommon to interact with frat guys, hippies, jocks, stoners, intellects, club chicks, and non-conformists... all in the same room. The next day, all these people can be seen playing wiffle ball together while enjoying a barbeque. Students here are confident with who they are and secure enough to respect how others are different.

Mike

Everyone on campus is so helpful and kind. As a freshman there were so many people who were just on the street willing to help me find my way around. Everything can be easily accessed. Great professors. Interesting courses. Everyone is willing to talk about their own cultures- great diversity.
