What is your overall opinion of this school?

I think Saddleback College is a great 2-year community college. This school is dedicated to helping students reach their goals of transferring to a 4-year University. I love how dedicated the counselors are to students' needs. This school wants to provide the best learning environment for students and that is why this school has continually upgraded its facilities so that we, students, can learn from the best professors while using new equipment. I love this community college and it is very affordable for all.

I believe that professors value the kind of education students receive from this school. The willingness to help any student that is struggling is unquestionable. I do recommend building a parking structure for this campus, we've spent thousands of dollars on building new classrooms and renovating our outdated buildings but I think building a parking structure would benefit students the most as during 8am-12pm there is absolutely no chance of finding a parking unless you show up to school an hour early from when your class start. Majority of students work part time or full time and there is nothing worst than coming to school only to find out you will be late from class on a daily basis due to lack of parking spots.

Saddleback college is one of the best community colleges I've seen. It is very veteran friendly and the teachers here are outstanding. Most teachers have office hours and are available after class as well. The financial aid department is one of the best and they are all about helping students afford college.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

I have gone to several schools getting my undergrad courses filled & Saddleback has been my favorite. I actually left CSUSM's pre-nursing program in favor of the one here because of the overall high cost of transportation there along with the higher tuition and lack of classes. An important aspect to consider when applying to schools is the availability of classes for your major; even though the tuition is likely higher at universities, I have found that people have a harder time getting into classes for "impacted programs" than they do at Saddleback and other CCs. The campus is easy to navigate, but parking is a hassle so arriving early is important! I mostly am involved in the science area of the school and the students and faculty in this building are generally helpful & great to work with! I would recommend coming here before going to a university, especially if money is an issue. You get a high quality education with knowledgeable professors & a supportive comradery with other students if you feel like branching out.

Misconception about saddleback community college and community colleges in general.

Saddleback community college is a very well known community college in my town. Most students after high school tend to go to a 4 year university after high school and the ones that don't are often faced with no other choice but to go to saddleback or any other community college. In my town saddleback dos t really have a positive reputation for itself because of all the down talk on it. Truth of the matter is most of the down talk comes from students who in there mind think they are to good to be at a community college, when in reality they are not. I myself had a chance to go to a 4 year university straight out of high school, but I chose not to because of my financial circumstances. At first yes I will admit I was a bit disappointed in myself and even felt like I was going to amount to nothing in my life. As I started becoming more and more familiar with the college I began to realize that this decision has possibly been the best one I have ever made so far. Why? Because as any good student would do I began to really see what this school had to offer and what tools I can use to further pursue my education. I ended up finding out that saddleback community college was the number 1 transfer community college in Southern California which reassured me that I would be able to transfer to my dream college with out a problem. On campus I started to familiarize myself with the many programs and activities the college has to offer. As of today I work at saddleback college, I am a student ambassador for the financial Aid office on campus which had by far been one of the best jobs I've had so far because I've been able t understand my finances a lot more and how there are SO MANY ways to help pay for college! I mean there are 25,000 students at saddleback and last year only 700 applied for scholarships, but only 400 actually received scholarships, and of those 400 students they all got to share $750,000 it just blows my mind how very little student are informed about all the different type of aid one student can receive. So with all that being said I couldn't be more happy with the decision of going to saddleback, because I personally struggle to pay for college and going here has only saved me a tremendous amount of money and I've acquired a great job in the mean time were I can help out my community of fellow students who are in the same situation and build a better reputation for saddleback but it all starts with changing one mind. One mind at a time i know I can change the way people look at saddleback and not just make it the #1 transfer community college in Southern California but make it the #1 community college in all of the United Sates of America. I go to saddleback to get stuff done, minimize the distractions, while still having fun and enjoying life. That's my mindset. Saddleback is a great college. Thank you, Osvaldo Perez
