Saint Cloud State University Top Questions

In my opinion, the worst thing about St. Cloud State University is the involvement. You can meet many great people, but unfortunately no one will bring you together. It is up to the students to learn about each other.

If I had to be picky and chose it would be the lack of options of food on campus. When you live souly off of what the university offers the options get old fast. I would also change the fact that we are not a D1 school in all sports besides hockey. I love football and basketball and wish the events were as rowdy as the D1 schools.

The coursework isn't very rigorous. Many people get high grades, who probably shouldn't.

I personally think that St. Cloud State University is a great school. Although this school has many different ethnicities, I would like there to be more diversity here at St. Cloud State University.

I would have to say the worst thing is that you can get a lot of variance from one professor to the next, you also need to be wary about getting a professor that you can't understand because of the multi-cultural aspect... The other issues I've had mostly have been with administration just not being friendly or helpful. They seem to hate life.

I think the worst thing about SCSU is the weekend life. Most people leave and go home or get so drunk they end up throwing up half the night. So you either come for the education and study your butt off or you come and party your butt off.

Many people are either drinking and/or doing drugs on and off campus, and on campus housing also, but the administratives do not know this.

My school is known to have parties where things can get out of hand, which I do not enjoy.

The worst thing about attending St Cloud State is that the campus is constantly under construction. While it is nice that they are making improvements, it is a challenge getting around. The main parking lot is a half mile from campus, and the Minnesota winters are cold.

The worst thing about St. Cloud State University is their parking. The Public Safetly officers (this year 11/12) are not very nice. I have called them many times and they do not answer my questions and they did not help me at all. When you call for assistance, they take their time to come to you. Sometimes you could be waiting for up to an hour and a half. Though I have had some issues, I believe there is power and strength to make this issue better.

The worst thing about my school is that there is a long ways to walk from class to class and from parking lots to class when the weather is bad.

I honestly don't know. My experience here has been pretty good.

The advising staff is very unorganized.

The professors at my school so far have not been the best. I previously attended the University of Minnesota doing PSEO while in high school and the professors were much better there.

Cold weather climate area, with buildings not connected, like UMD for example. Students have to walk out in fridged cold climates

Teachers do not allow for learning disabilities whatsoever.

I would say that the financial aid office as a whole is the most awful part of Post University. It never fails. There is always a LARGE grpup of freshmen that leave after the first semester. There is definately a group that is told at the very last minute that their financial aid didn't go through or that a loan didn't go through and they have to pay a great deal of money on the spot that neither the student nor the parents have at that time. It's as if this school wants ALL of your money.

The worst thing about my school is the designated smoking areas, I do not like to walk pass those areas because it smells really bad. Also another worst thing about my school is the cafeteria, they have the same food every week for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I think my school is really great. So far I love my experience and have always enjoyed being here.

The unfriendly-ness of it. When I came here as a freshman I expected to meet alot of new people, unfortunatly I didn't really get an experience like that.

The thing that i consider worst about my school is the problem that first year students don't come back their following year. This is one thing that i fear the most. Many times things don't go the way they plan to because of school work or maybe they dont have time to come back anymore. Others reasons can be because of acedamic probation, this is one thing that troubles each university. Many students have the capabilities to discover great wonders in their college career but never seem to finish strong, this makes it a major issue.

I wish my school recognized good students more, instead I feel like they blend in with all the other students.

The worst part of studying at SCSU is the standards seem to be a bit lower than compared universities such as the University of Minnesota. Granted, the price of SCSU is far cheaper than the latter, but it is the diploma of graduation that means something to the working world in the end.

Honestly for me the worst thing about St. Cloud is the cafeteria. It doesn't have very much variety. It also doesn't have much fruit or meat. I don't feel that I recieve the best nutrition I could. I've been going to Target to buy my own fruits and different fruits. That honestly is probably the only thing I don't like about St. Cloud, other than the cold Minnesota weather.

There is nothing wrong with our school, people are friendly, proffessers are helpful and we have all the resources that are avaible if you need help. even thought that city school is located is not nice, the school is perfect.

I do not have anything to horrible to complain about. I do think that the amount of smokers on campus could be reduced, especially if we move to a smoke free campus.

The worse things about this school is really insignificant compared to every good thing. I would say that parking is the worst part. Parking on campus is expensive and inconvient. When you park on campus if your parking pass isn't displayed properly you get a ticket even if you can prove you hace a pass.

I think that the most unfortunate thing about my school is that they have had a lot of budget cuts to faculty/staff and programs such as athletics and academic programs as well. I do not understand how a school especially a state university can be run so that the only way to close the gap is to cut otherwise necessary programs? Besides that I feel that the quality of the instruction and the condition of the campus are very nice and of high quality. I also wish that there were more scholorships available to my degree area.

It seems like there is to much to do, and it distracts you from your school work. And we even pay for all these events so it puts up the tution and I'm already tight with money as it is. Its almost like I cant afford to go to college just because all the extra events these people put on.

I consider the worst thing about D'Youville to be its location. This being that it is in the heart of Buffalo's west side, and therefore not very safe. The quality of education provided though is high. In my opinion this outweighs the location. D'Youville also does a good job providing multiple daytime classes, and offering security guards to escort you at night if you request.

The worst thing to me is the smoking policy on campus. Also people throw their butts all over the place.

The worst thing about Saint Cloud State is the smoking because students smoke right next to the buildings and you have to walk through a cloud of smoke to get to class. The university is currently working on this problem though.

I would consider the worst thing about this school is how many options one gets to choose from for which route they would like to take for a major/minor. There are hundreds of programs here which allows students to accomplish their goals and allows them to pursue a career they are passionate about. In my first semester of my first year at Saint Cloud State I have narrowed down what I would like to pursue as a major. I am keeping my options open, however, because Saint Cloud State University has so many.

The only negative thing I can really say about St. Cloud State is that it's a pretty big campus and walking gets to be a little much. Other than that, no complaints.

I have not been at St. Cloud State University long enough to become fully acquainted with it. During the winter season it does get brutal to have to walk a ways to get to class and I wish they would have underground tunnels or more skyways.

The worst thing about St. Cloud State is the climate. The school being in Minnesota makes campus very cold in the winter with a large amount of snow. St. Cloud, mindful of the temperatures, thankfully built skyways that allow students to travel through four of the academic buildings without ever having to go outside, making the climate easier to deal with. Other than temperature, the university doesn't have any major problems, only the slight annoyances that every college student has to deal with.

The mismanagement of funds caused an increase in tuition to pay for the athletic department to stay afloat. I also don't like certain programs being dropped entirely.

I believe that the parking at St. Cloud State University could use a great deal of improvement in order to allow students to be able to park on campus close to their classes. The only option for freshman parking is one lot about a mile away from all classes and it is dark and unsafe. Safe and convient parking would improve the experience for students on campus.

I think the worst thing about Saint Cloud State University is the stigma of "a party school" that surrounds the university. Yes, there is a party atmosphere and environment that is prevelant throughout campus and I would be lying through my teeth to you if I said that "Oh, there isn't that many people that party." The thing that is sad is how SCSU is often percieved as a slack institution lacking intellectual value because of it (ive heard it plenty of times myself), when it is actually a highly accredited instition with thousands of highly educated students.

I am a person who loves meeting new people, but on the weekends most students leave campus and go home. On weekends it is hard to get together with other students because they have mostly all left to go home.

The load of work sometimes its too much. The budget problem and some classes being canceled. Because it might take longer for us to graduate thanks to the fact that the classes are not being offfered every semester or when we need them.

I would have to say is maybe the amount of closed minded people here that are not willing to experience something new. That is what college is suppose to be like, since you have the opportunity to do things that you could not do staying at home. There is so many different types of people that it would be a shame not to talk to somebody random.

The reputation of my school is a "party school" and that brings down the appeal for some, however, you only submerge yourself in partying if you want to.

I think the worst thing about St. Cloud State, is the "party school" reputation that it has. There is a lot of drinking that takes place there, which can be distracting from the education experience. It also causes other people who do not go to St. Cloud State to make assumptions that all St. Cloud State students just party all the time, which can be very frustrating.

The parking is horrible. New students/faculity have to park in the last parking lot that is the furthest away from everything. It does not feel safe walking to it in the dark. Some of the class sizes are way to big.

The worst thing is the amount of students who don't take it seriously. Just because they don't get busted for underage drinking, they think that they don't have to show up for classes and can breeze through a semester or full years without a hitch.

Some of the classes in the College of Business are hard to get into and have lots of students in each class.
