Saint Cloud State University Top Questions

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

Melissa

The most frustrating thing about earning my undergraduate degree at Saint Cloud State University was paying back all the loans I took out to receive my degree.

Steven

This school doesn't have much of a reputation; as such, it will be important for me to find other ways to distinguish myself if I am to apply to graduate programs at more prestigious universities.

The most frustrating thing that i had encountered in St. Cloud State University is finding a job on campus. It's convenient to have a campus job because they can work around your school schedule and it is closer to your classes. Due to the fact that there are thousands of students that goes to St. Cloud State, there are many applicants; therefore, finding a job is very competative.

Alynda

The most frustrating thing about my school is nothing. Everything is there for you to access.

Miamoua

The most frustrating thing about St. Cloud State University is that there are so many things to do with so little time. There are so many campus events going on that you want to attend every one of them but you have to be aware of your class schedule and consider the time needed for homework assignments and time to study. It’s all about time management and sacrificing those ‘wants’ for ‘needs’. Trying to prioritize and create an effective schedule that works can be really frustrating when there are so many things to do.

Amber

My one and only complaint about my school so far is the parking. It is always a battle trying to find space to park on the streets and the parking permit lots are very expensive for a student that is already struggling to get tuition paid. I wish that there was a better route to commuting to St. Cloud from the cities so that parking would not be an issue.

Sidney

The lack of political diversity. I have been kicked down for having my personal political ideology many times at this school and it can be very upsetting at times. That also goes along with the extended emphasis on race and ethnicity classes which just make the line between races more clear as opposed to bringing people together and making them feel like a community.

MarkAnthony

There is nothing really frustrating to me about this school, but I have heard people complain about the workload on some occasions and money issues. The normal college things people go through at some point in time.

Rachel

The parking.

Amber

The most frustrating thing about Saint Cloud State University is the diversity of professors. I am by no means raciest or against any other race. It is stricity the language barrier of some of the professors. I understand that there are students who can understand these professors clearly, but for me personally, this is my biggest frustration. I get very frustrated when I can't understand what a professor is expecting on an assignment or when he explains something during the class.

Stacey

My frustrations formed from financial struggles and safety issues surrounding the campus. Not only St. Cloud State University, but all Universities can be dangerous. Although the campus provides Public Safety, I was attacked and robbed just off campus. It was a horrible experience that sent me into a depression, and I felt the Counseling Center did not do a sufficient job. I only had two counseling sessions and feel like I was sent away. My depression worsened with money problems. Although I had a job, I couldn't work enough hours between classes and homework. I'm still struggling.

Madison

The most frustrating thing about SCSU is that some of the professors do not speak very good english making it hard to understand them, and some of them just plain do not care about their students.

Victoria

The most frustarting thing about SCSU is the racial discrimination on campus, just a few weeks ago a great teacher was fired because he was not white. This school can be very racist at times.

Kalie

The most frustrating aspect of this school is that the alumni don't seem very interested once they graduate. Sure some come back and donate money or other things like that but I would prefer more of a closer bond with those who have graduated from Saint Cloud State University.

Daniel

its a little far from where i live but that is my choice

Loni

I'm taking most of my classes online because I live over an hour away from th campus, and the most frustrating thing for me at SCSU is that some of the professors don't care about their on-line classes. Some of the online classes are disorganized, the technology doesn't always work, the teachers barely respond to your emails, and they basically give you the impression that they care more about the students on campus then those online!!!

Laura

It is very hard to find what you are looking for on my school's website.

Shane

Honestly, there is not much that I consider frustrating at this university other then the normal stresses of college. I would however, have to say that off campus housing can be frustrating when attending this university. Apartments and houses go very quick and the ones closest to campus are always the prime targets. So you really need to get on top of finding off campus housing early or your top locations will be rented out.

Olivia

The thing that is the most frustrating for me concerning my school is that fact that the smoking policy isn't really enforced enough. I would love to see St. Cloud become a tobacco free campus. It is very important for me to stay healthy and I definitely support a tobacco free campus.

Chelsea

What's frustrating about Cornish College of the Arts? Only a few small things: the lack of support for composting; and expensive lab fee's

Kimberly

The most frustrating thing is the people smoking right outside the doors of buildings.

Jessica

I am a freshman this 2010-2011 achademic year, the most prevelant thing I have noticed is this school is diverse. I was so happy to see that a school was trying to bring different people together! Unfortunatly, people almost automatically seperate themselves as if there is segregation! I feel I cannot interact as I wish I could with other people that are not of my same hertiage because it is very uncomfortable. I wish it could be fixed, i wish people felt comfortable enough to interact with eachother and not cling to people most similar to themselves.

Kirby

The only frustating thing about ay school is the amount of mony it takes to attend. The want to learn is there but the finances may not be. When a students wants to continue their education, they should be allowed to without the deep hole of debt they are forced into. Students that have to juggle working and stuying are the real future of this country, because of their ability to work toward their dreams. There are students that can not committ to these arduous hours and are turned away due to lack of finances

Kayla

The most frustrating thing is parking, very hard to find a place to park, and gets very expensive

Alexandra

The most frustrating thing about my school is not being treated like an adult in one of my classes. The rules that one of my professors had for her class made me feel like a child. They were beyond the normal respectful rules that you see in a college and it was very frustrating.

Jacqueline

The most frustrating thing about SCSU is probably the weather. In the summer it gets up to 100 degrees, and winters can get to -20. To live here year-round you need both a giant parka and air conditioning. The worst is those winter days, living off campus and walking fifteen blocks in the cold - but overall it's not too bad, since our student union has a fireplace and a coffee shop to greet you when you get there.

Jessica

I think the most frustrating thing at St. Cloud is registration for classes. I feel like all the students have to jump through so many hoops to register for classes because departments put hold on the higher level classes. This way it keeps out the students who aren't in the major to register for the classes.

Holly

I don't think there are very many "frustrating" things about this school at all. If I had to say what does frustrate me here, I would say that the fact that the roads don't get salted in the winter is a bit frustrating. Other than that, I have no complaints.

Zong

The most frustrating aspects about college is time managment and understanding context. Time is everything when it comes to college and if you do not know how manage your time wisely, you will fall behind and get caught up in a lot of work. This overall creates stress and pressure you to procrastinate which is overall negative to your well being as a college student. The context of college work and courses are also a difficult concept of college. Courses and work here are very demanding and can be very complicated at times.

Emily

The fact that there is not a lot of financial aid available compared to other schools. As a fulltime student who has to pay her way through school it is hard to work and be a full time student so the extra financial aid would have helped so much more.

Penny

The most frustrating thing about my school is the smoking on campus. I don't like all the students that smoke in front of buildings right before you go inside of them. I also really don't like it when I'm walking behind someone with a cigarette- that's the most frustrating of all.

Kayla

Trying to find ways to fit in and associate with others when transferring from another school. The amount of time that some students have to wait before they can register for classes.

Andrew

The most frusterating thing is that there is a lot of pressure and competition to succeed, yet there is equal pressure to have a big social life. So while you get made fun of for getting bad grades, you are outcasted by a lot of students for doing homework instead of partying. So it is very frusterating to have to balance partying and grades, and be successful in both.

Nelly

I think like with any university there is a big emphasis and drive to have assignments done and at times more than seems that can be done.

Jennina

On the weekends, alot of students tend to leave and go home, especially new first year students.

Katie

Some of the professors don't care how well you do in the class. They only care about getting paid. Some people don't know how to teach and don't care about your success.

Kristine

That some professors cancel too many classes and leave you with confusing assignments with no office hours if you have questions.

Matt

How the subject of diversity is shoved down our throats. I know it's something you have to do politically, but it's annoying all the same. I usually get annoyed by societies need to be diverse simply for the sake of being diverse.

Nicole

Too many students for the amount of upper level classes offered. Known for its bad drinking habits. Whites are becoming more and more the minority. Overall the school is looked down at.

Matt

We are a very diverse school, and we have ALOT of international students. There are more and more international students attending this campus each year and as a state resident attending this school I feel like we are being over run by our international program. But at the same time it is pretty amazing that our school educates all these people from other countries and I am sure they are very thankful to be recieving that education in the US. I also get very frustrated when people assume this is a huge party school, EVERY COLLEGE IS A PARTY SCHOOL!

Andrew

The cold and wind

Jana

Not very much parking.
