It is very hard to decide what one thing I would consider "the best" about St. Edward's. If I had to choose, I would say the small class sizes are what I have enjoyed the most. My biggest class has 22 students in it. Most classes max out around 25 students. The professors know your name and strive to develop a relationship with each of their students. You will never feel like an ID number or "just another student".
The community. everyone is warm and welcoming. Professor and staff are always willing to talk.
The best thing about my school are the people I have gotten to meet. I can truly be around myself around them.
The small size, allows you to be engaged in the St. Edward's community and get to know people. There are also a lot of oncampus resources avaiable to students because this is a private school.
When i started at Saint Edwards last fall i was really worried about the size of the university. The campus has about the same number of students that my high school had, and going to such a small university scared me because i didnt think i would get the whole college experience and i thought it would be boring. Over this year i have learned how amazing it really is to go to such a small school. Also although we are a small school our spirt rocks, so dont hate small schools until you try it, like i did.
At St. Edward's, internships and study abroad programs are considered as a priority. Many majors offer courses in countries outside of the U.S.- St. Edward's considers multiculturalism essential for educational and personal growth. I find this as one of the main reasons why I decided to attend, and I cannot wait to study abroad. With a wide array of internships, it is also possible to find a great job due to the connections. Lastly, they also provide great assistant to alumni students and I am anxious to begin my career!
I consider the student to teacher ratio to be the best thing about St. Edward's. Most classes at the university are under twenty students, therefore each student gets much more individual attention than they would as opposed to a large, pulic university. Not only do teachers want to provide more one-on-one instruction, they are all very knowledgable of their particular fields of study. The professors make it clear that they are here to help you more than anything.
The best thing about my school is the open minded attitude the majority of the students and faculty carry with them. In class discussions, people are encouraged to express their viewpoints, no matter what they may be, and pretty much everyone is receptive to what others have to say, and if they disagree will politely express themselves. People of all different backgrounds attend my school and everyone can usually find people to hang our with.
The camaraderie and sense of community are unbeatable
The school is small and very open-minded. They put emphasis on global issues and studies. They also allow personal and spiritual growth with the help of seminars, guest speakers and events. St. Ed's also puts a strong emphasis on being culturally knowledgable and accepting of different ideas and personalities. This school is Catholic but does not force the religion on its students, instead St. Edwards' allows students to be whatever they please.
The location of the campus. It's in the middle of downtown Austin so it give the students a lot of opportunities to be in the middle of all that goes on.
An enclave for the children of central Texas' elite.
The best thing about my school is the family-like community we have here. The professors and students alike treat each other with such care and respect, and are so willing to help our or just listen that it feels like living in one big family of friends.
The small classes. It makes it much easier to get to know the professor on a personal basis, and get what you need.
The environment. It is such a beautiful school and everyone is so friendly that it is hard not to fall in love with the school and find life-long friends.
The professors are extremely well educated. The student population is open minded and the campus is gorgeous and has a great location. I feel like I'm actually learning something important each day and hate to miss class.
The best this about St. Edward's University is that it offers many opportunities for tutorial and study groups. The professors are always available at St. Edward's and care about the success of their students.
The size of classes and the great professors. Enjoy all of them, and i get tons of one-on-one help. Great learning environment. I don't feel ike a number.
Being from El Salvador I would say the best thing about this school is the culture appreciation and the eagerness to learn about different people. People are also very friendly and social. Most of the students here tend to analize and visualize things through a different perspective given that they are highly liberal and artistic. The faculty is always friendly and classes are between 10-18 max students.
The majority of professors are more than willing to help any student with any problem or concern. They have flexible office hours to help stuents before and after classes. Resources are available to help for tutoring. Many students are eager to begin study groups and welcome everyone. The extra-curricular clubs and organizations are varied and fun! Many of the students are welcoming and helpful. The freshman orientation is very helpful to new students, and they have older students to help them along the way.
It feels like a second family and you get to learn outside the classroom. The campus is beautiful and great to be at. It has never felt itimidating. The people are non-judgemental and very welcoming. Being here at St. Edwards makes you want to learn more than just in the classroom. It has a positive atmosphere.
