Saint Francis University Top Questions

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

Rachel

I wish I had known the extent of how much the school’s religion was integrated into the curriculum.

In high school, one seemed to be walking down the geek path, the athletic path, the punk rocker path, or the almighty (drum roll please) popular path. While fitting in seemed to be the main goal in high school, college is different. Everyone is not from the same town and being unique is appreciated because others can learn something new. The one thing I would tell myself is to be true to my values, but keep an open mind. I would encourage myself to bring my bold colors to the canvas, but always be willing to introduce other color combinations .

I wish that I knew exactly how far out in the county this campus was. There is not much to do around campus unless you have a car and are able to drive places. Academics are the focus here, but when a student needs a break from studying and something fun to do, there are not very many options. They do have activities on campus, but sometimes you just want to get away from the same environment that you are constantly living in.

Saint Francis University does a very good job helping students to get aquainted with the school. Freshamn Orientation is very helpful and shows new students everything they will need to be successful. The school does an excellent job in helping new students adjust. Orientation also helps to get incoming freshamn to interact with each other and make friendships that last the entire stay at Saint Francis and beyond.

That it can be so cold. It would have been nice to know that on some weekends the campus is very quiet and there is not alot going on. Having a relatively small student body can be strange sometimes, but can also add to the feeling of community.

How cold it can be on top of this mountain!! Also, I wish I would have known that I was not the only one who was nervous about having to leave home and that SFU would help me make friends and have a smooth transition. Knowing that would have eased alot of fears I had as an incoming freshman.

Anthony

I knew what I was getting into before I entered school.

Taryn

I wish I had gotten a more informed decision on my roomate.

Brandon

I wish I knew that I did not want to go to med school when I decided to come to this school. My choice would have been completely different. I avoided a large school to keep myself focused, and now I feel like I'm missing out.

Kathleen

I wish I would have known that a lot of the students here are locals and go home on the weekends. I also wish I would have known that I would not be receiving very much financial aid simply because of what my parents made, when I am responsible for paying for school.

Sarah

That, really, there is not much to do here on campus unless you get involved. And don't get over-involved; you WILL stretch yourself thin. Make friends with someone that has a car (and can drive safely) and try to have an affection for snow.

Mary

I wish I had known how much drinking goes on. I am not a drinker, and as a result I tend to spend a lot of time in my room on the weekends. Had I known there was so much partying, I may have seriously considered another school.

john

that the football program sucks and so so the coaches and how the facilities are not the best and how expensive the school is and that athletics gets no money

Matthew

There isn't anything that I wish I had known before I came to St. Frnacis. I feel I knew everything I want and/or needed to know before coming.
