The college is great! The price of tuition is very affordable, the professors care many of them are veterans in both teaching and their field. Classes are challenging but not to the point where you cannot work another job. Student life is pleasant, the campus is very calming and quiet. I find it much easier to study at the school rather than at home. Our student life coordinator is always walking around just creating a good and welcoming vibe. This is a 2 year college so they prepare you to transfer to a 4 year college. All in all I'm really enjoying my time here and would recommend it to most everybody

I am only on the Saint Augustine campus, so that's what my review will be most reflective of. Overall, it's a tiny and kind of quaint state college, comparable to a community college. They primarily offer general education classes and things to fulfill your associate's degree, but they offer some bachelors. They do have an onsite police academy, so there are always cops and want-a-be cops on campus, which helps it feel way safer. There is also a reasonably big nursing school on this campus; they tend to make up most of the student population. Food is not provided via meal plan as it's more of a commuter school (it's a community college); they have a small business inside the Saint Augustine campus called the Viking Cafe. They have a delicious burger and a weekly changing soup. Almost all of my professors so far have been amazing, and you can find reviews for practically everyone online or get recommendations from other students while you're hanging out in the Viking Center (our student center). Students tend to be friendly and open to conversation or just open to playing an air hockey game or pool with you. Almost all clubs are available for anyone to join, some may have a low GPA requirement, and they tend to meet up on campus and online to accommodate everyone's needs. Overall, pretty good experience for anyone looking for an introduction to college for dual-enrollment or just wanting to go to community college before heading to University.

As a community college, SJR is a great school. The classes are a good size (around 30 students), the professors are knowledgeable and know what they are talking about, and there is always help available when needed. There are many options when it comes to getting your degree. Not to mention you will save big bucks if you attend SJR to get your A.A., and then transfer into a university.

There are things that could change to make it better, however that is with every college. You'll love some professors, and you'll hate some. The tutors are absolutely amazing, and are always willing to help you. I have used ratemyprofessor.com to research my professors, and it has helped a little. However the biggest problem is that there are select classes that don't go year round, so your best bet is to go to academic advising to look into how to work out your schedule for how long you need to stay here.

Saint Johns River State College FAQS

  1. What is the Acceptance Rate at Saint Johns River State College?

The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Saint Johns River State College is 100%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Well I have a unique perspective of senior year. I began dual enrollment at SJRCC as a junior in high shool, of which i was homeschooled. When I was a senior all my classes were college courses. I didn't really have an opportunity to know anything else besides that college enivironment since I didn't get to experience the typical public high school environment. My senior year i still went through some awkward transitions: growing up, finally becoming an "adult" (as if turning 18 makes me more grown-up somehow) and beginning to make mature, life-changing decisions about my future. If I could go back and give myself some kind of advice at the beginning of senior year it would have been this, "Ignore your severe case of 'senoritis'. Have fun but don't forget to take this seriously. What you do right now in these momets will affect your future goals, educations plans, and career."

  4. Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

My school is unique because of the closeness in the student body. Because it's a community college in a smaller town, most of the students have known each other for years. Everyone gets along, study groups and group projects are common. The atmosphere on campus is very friendly and positive.

  5. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

At St. Johns Community College, we have more students then parking spots. The worst this thing about my college is the size of the school. St. Johns is certainly an excellent choice for a college, but if your looking for an immeasurable size for a school, then St. Johns River community college is not for you.
