If I could go back and do it again, I would definitely simplify things. I would focus more on meeting new people and experiencing new things instead of worrying about having the right clothes or stuff for my dorm room. I would meet more with my professors at the beginning and take advantage of all the tutoring and help that Samford provides. Lastly, I would be nicer to my first roommate. I wasn't patient and definitely didn't take the high road when we had our differences. I wasn't very mature and have learned that relationships take work.

Don't be afraid to try new things and step out of your comfort zone - this is how you will make your lifelong friends.

Personally, as a dancer, I wish knew as an incoming freshman that there was a terrific dance team that I could of joined. After hearing so many stories about how wonderful it is to be apart of, I decided to make-up for the lack of memories and try out. Thankfully, I made the dance team and can now be partake in this unique experience.

I wish I had known more about the extra space I had in my schedule in order to take more classes outside of my major. I wish I had known more about how I could get involved in the music school besides classes.

All the work that is required during my freshmen year. The work load is absolutely enormous compared to my high school senior year, and I even took AP classes. If you enjoy your eight hours of sleep, prepare for only 4-6 hours at maximimum here.

I wish I had known how important it was to just go for it. College is a time to explore and be adventurous; to try things you never thought you could or would do. Take every opportunity that is offered to you - college only comes around one time in life and there are so many incredible things to experience and so many amazing new people to experience new things with. So when you feel afraid to try something make and new friend and try it together. This is how you create moments you will never forget.

I wish that I had been more aware how academically challenging it would be. I lost many scholarships first semester because I was not prepared for the level of focus on strong academics. I have since adjusted my study habits, but it would have been nice to know beforehand. Also, the tours and everything purport Samford as this idyllic Christian atmosphere. Not entirely true. There is alcohol consumption, contrary to the "dry-campus" that it is touted as.

Be pro-active in terms of your summers! Performing arts faculty should encourage applying for summer performing programs.

All of the dumb rules. Visitation, alcohol, food court never being open, no wireless on campus, not enough computer labs.

I wish I had known that many of the professors aren't as conservative as the school advertises them to be, and that school football games aren't as exciting as they should be because there isn't a lot of school spirit. However- this year, the football program seems to be improving so the school spirit is too.
