The program I am currently enrolled in is more versitile than those of the other colleges I was previously looking at. I am able to fully embrace and experience the absolute all that is the industry in which I wish to be involved in. The focus of the program is not on a single skill, but on the entirety of the business. Therefore, the student should graduate a jack of all trades with exirence in all areas of the field.
We are a fairly small school and a true family. Everyone knows everyone else and there is a lot of support between the students. The school throws many mixers, particularly for the incoming freshman so that they can meet everyone. Regardless of the discipline you choose all departments work together in many ways and the school is very encouraging, very hospitable, liberal and has some truly awesome programs. Many of the other schools I looked at had a very clear division between the various majors where students did not mix. The staff and faculty encouraged this.
Only a certain type of student applies to and attends CSF. The students here are very creative, open-minded and intelligent. CSF is an intimate learning experience with great opportunities to express oneself in a variety of art fields. There is no other sense of community quite like it that i could find somewhere else. The faculty are all quite knowledgeable and helpful and at this point I can't really see myself going somewhere else.
Class sizes are small enought that sometimes we'll hold class at the teachers house, or the class will go out for breakfast at the end of the year. My advisor is a teacher in my department and they are very helpfull in getting me the classes I need. Working on campus is easy and pays decently. If their isn't a club your interested in it's easy enough to start your own. Housing is great, my friends and I were able to get apartments this year all in the same unit. I'll miss this place after graduation.
It offers small classes and great resources for the fields of film and theatre.
There's a familiar, friendly rapport with the professors and the administration. People's opinions are respected, but you'll never find a prevailing train of thought about any issue on campus. Financial aid is receptive to bargaining. What the college's size lacks in facilities, it more than makes up for with familiarity between students, and with a very active and innovative student life program. The dorms aren't top notch, but people rarely spend much time in them anyway.
