It's honestly kind of hard for you to go to parties regardless. They exist, but they're shut down quickly unless you keep it capped at like 10 friends or so. But in answer to the question at hand, no, you can go to parties while they exist and still be moderately entertained sober, or at least as much as anyone else is... The best route is to take your partying to nyc- make friends with Pace/Fordham/NYU students... and have intimate gatherings with your SLC friends.
