Everyone is gay, artsy, moody, a hipster, etc. That Sarah Lawrence is a hippie school where people sit under trees and smoke a ton of weed.

On the whole, Sarah Lawrence students are assumed to be gay hipster trust fund babies who enjoy arguing about real life problems they will never have to face. Stereotype says that SLC kids are alternative for the sake of being "different", but they are all "different" in the exact same way. Pierced, tattooed, and politically liberal, the stereotypical Sarah Lawrence student is usually in the middle of writing a novel, acting in a play, starting a band, or some other equally bourgeois endeavor.

Generally, the stereotype of the typical SLC female is either lesbian or an angry feminist. The male stereotype is gay and/or sensitive. Other stereotypes for the student body are extreme liberalism, a tendency towards smoking, and a typical WASPy suburban upbringing. Oh, also, that we're weird.

That everyone is queer/gay. This is not true at all. Though the college is incredibly supportive of alternative sexual identities (which is wonderful) that's not all there is to the school. A lot of people think that that's all Sarah Lawrence stands for. There's really a lot more to it than just our sexualities.

That it's an all-girls school (well, that's a misconception really, and not much of a stereotype), it's the "gay" school, it's a hippie school, it's crazy liberal, all the students are hipsters, all the students chain-smoke, everyone smokes pot, the school has no structure, everyone goes around thinking they're better than everyone else, the students there were all freaks in high school, nothing offends Sarah Lawrence students and everything offends Sarah Lawrence students at the same time, it's a sexually promiscuous school, everyone there is gay or lesbian, etc.
