Manna

When I tell my friends about school, I mostly brag about how I don't have typical school classes. Alot of my classes deal with art and making art. Also my classrooms can consist of musuems and art exhibits.

I can do whatever I want! It's an art school, so there is a lot of room for creativity and originality. There are not a lot of guidelines, therefore it allows you to think, observe, and create in ways that you didn't know were possible. This in turn shows you a lot about yourself that you may not have known, as well. The way this school is set up, each class makes you challenge yourself into finding a way to outdo not only your classmates, but your previous projects, too.

The School of the Art Insitute of Chicago provided me with an urban experience away from my hometown. There I worked alongside dedicated individuals working very hard to procure an income while simultaneously preserving their creativity. It was difficult, trying, and character-building. Your curriculum is very self-driven, and you must have a passion for Art. Depending on your economic background, avoid taking out loans with private companies and work while you can. The Art Institute is a nice name to have on a resume, but anything you come out with will be equal to your own efforts.

I brag most about cultural similarities between my classmates and the work that we create. I come from a small town with little diversity and very, very conservative values. It's incredible to feel like I belong somewhere.
