The community college atmosphere offers a unique perspective on learning through many different points of view. The students range from the age of 18 to 55, every race and religion. This allows for contrasting opinions that you wouldn't normally encounter at a major university. I learned more about the world, myself, and others through my experiences there than I did all throughout high school. I discovered new information through the curriculums, professors, and other students which helped shape my view on life and existence in general.
What's unique about Schoolcraft Community College is that it provides an oppertunity for students to attend college without having to pay twice the amount of money for dorms, food, ammenities, etc. This allows students and families who are suffering in our current economic recession to have an oppertunity to still get a college education without having to pay over $10,000 in tuition. It also provides many activities and clubs to become a part of which opens a student up to become involved in college.
