The best thing about my school is the understanding professors and the easy enviroment to make friends.
I think the best thing is the friends you make. They will be your friends throughout your entire experience.
Shepherd University is not very large, so the classes are smaller and students tend to get more attention from advisors. It's also only an 1 1/2 hours from Baltimore and DC so you can still get the benefit of urban culture, such as internship opportunities as well as musuems, concerts, etc.
The atmosphere of both the campus and the town is quaint, quiet, and conducive to studying and focusing on school projects. Many of the professors are helpful to the students and willing to provide advice and counseling on a moment's notice while administrators ensure that paperwork is processed in a timely manner. The campus offers extracurricular activities throughout the week, including game nights, open mics, and free movies. The overall environment provided by the university makes Shepherd a good place to pursue an undergraduate degree.
The programs offered are new and exciting or old and established.
The best thing is that the university is easy to get to and though it is a split campus, Shepherd provides a pan tran that runs students from west to east campus so you never have to worry about finding a parking spot or getting to class on time for that reason. Students here are very nice and when they hear you are a freshman they don't ignore you, but instead they do their best to help you out.
It is a small campus. This allows class sizes to be small and you can get one on one interaction with your professors. Everything becomes very personal.
The people you're surrounded by. The professors are all really engaging and helpful, and the town is full of friendly and amazing people. I still go back and visit all the time, its like a refuge.
Probably the teachers. There are so many different kinds of teachers here, all of them wanting to do nothing but further your understanding and upgrade your education.
The best thing about my school in my opinion is that they are serious about academics and want their students to succeed.
