I have been impressed by Slippery Rock University time and time again. Everyone employed by SRU that I have come into contact with--whether faculty of staff--has been extremely helpful and easy to work with. All of the offices I have dealt with have provided assistance with whatever issue I have had immediately, and the professors are extremely friendly and accessible!
Slippery Rock is the closet college to my hometown, which is about 45 minutes away, besides the community college. I choose Slippery Rock because it is very inexpensive compared to other universities that I was looking at. I have met a lot of great people here.
I think Slippery Rock University is an amazing school. It is a decent size and feels like home to me. I can always find something on campus to do and I know that my professors are always around when I need help. Even when it is nighttime, I know there are students tutors around campus to help even at those hours. SRU is one of the few schools to offer my major, Actuarial Science, and I know I will receive a good education here.
My favorite place in the world. I love it here always something to do, see, and talk about not to mention we have the best sunsets in the world.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania is 69%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.
I have realized that I have much more potential than I realized in high school. Going to college has really opened up my view of myself, and I feel like there is much for me to achieve here.
How depressing it can be when you don't get to see the sun for a while!
Our school is mainly known for our pride in our school. We have things such as Green & White Fridays where everyone wears our school colors; also, if we are stressed from too much homework or we need good luck for a big test, then we "rub the rock", in which 4 monumental rocks are placed around campus and we rub if for good luck. The pride throughout our university is incredible we are so proud to be a part of it.
I think the best thing about the school is that it is small and you can have more one on one time with teachers. It is also, cheaper than most schools.
Anyone who is looking for a 4-year degree but is concerned with cost of tuition or wants a school that feels like a home away from home.
Fast growing and always making changes to improve the school and programs.
My classmates are friendly and open to helping anyone who needs it.
There are a wide variety of people at SRU from nerds to jocks. So, Slippery Rock is for everyone. Although, whoever attends must not mind rain because it rains a lot compared to where I'm from which is south-central PA.
Very spread out and the laptop computers are terrible in the library.
The professors are incredible, they work hard to see that students understand and are always available at their offices to render assistance as well.
You know a lot of people you see around campus and people remember you. Also everyone is very friendly.
The most frustrating thing about the school is registration, because it is an added stress, and unlike other schools, advisors do not do registration for us.
I believe Slippery Rock is the perfect school. We have about 8,000 students, which makes Slippery Rock a medium-sized school. But, you get to know a core group of students so it generally feels like a smaller school. Some people have the wrong view of Slippery Rock thinking it is a party school. I tell them no matter what school you go to, you will find parties. Overall opinion of Slippery Rock has gone up since I have gone here. I spend a lot of my time in the library. As a graduate student, it is my one place of solace. Not to mention there are computers on every floor, the staff is willing to help with anything you may need, and it is a quiet place to get away and study. The schools administration is honestly amazing. They are truly looking out for the best for their students. The current president, Robert Smith, has truly turned Slippery Rock into one of the best campuses I have ever been to. His positive attitude has really kept the campus on an upward track since he came here. We love our school and are proud of everything we do here. I will always remember the three years I lived in the dorms and the friends that I made there, many of which I keep in contact with still. Also, the faculty and staff on campus are as friendly as they come. I have befriended many of my professors and a couple have been my mentors for years now. The only thing I would change about Slippery Rock is the class scheduling process. Sometimes it is hard to get into classes. But, no matter where you go you will have that problem.
I honestly do not find there are standard stereotypes at Slippery Rock. Greek life is popular on campus but even those who participate in Greek organizations are nice people. The majority of people on campus are friendly and bridge different types of student.
