My school Stony Brook Southampton is based soley around the environment. The reason I chose to attend this school is because it's a small campus with few students who all have the same interests. Its nice because you can see your professors in lecture and then see them eating lunch ten mintues later. Every class I have taken has somehow been tied in with environmental sustainability, even the boring math classes. My school is truely the most efficient and sustainable school around and I feel if there were more schools like Stony Brook Southampton the world would be better.
When I was a high school senior, I was 17 and had never been further east than Cincinnatti, Oh. Today I'm a 19 year old sophomore at Stony Brook Southampton in Southampton, Ny. I always wanted to be a Marine Biologist. In Kentucky this dream was a bit out of reach. When I graduted from high school I wanted to go to University of South Carolina to be a Marine Science major. I instead decided to attend the University of Louisville because it was only 3 hours from home as opposed to 9. After my first semester at U of L I decided I was unhappy because I couldn't be a Marine Biology major. I did some more research and came across Stony Brook Southampton in Southampton, Ny(17hoursfromhome). The entire cirriculum was based around environmental sustainability and they were also well known for there Marine Vertebrate Biology major, this is the only university where a Marine Vert. major is offered. I now attend this wonderful school and am happier than ever. My advice that I would give myself is to not be afraid to follow my dreams, no matter how far away from home it takes me.
