Could use far more parking for the amount of student they have. Also many of the buildings need improvements, structurally. Needs more accessibility improvements to buildings. Food is generally okay but it is never consistent, nothing will taste the same as it did last time. Next year they will be putting most of what's in the UC on Flex instead of meal swipes, and there will be a block plan for meals, which sucks actually.

I transferred here and love it so far. I feel like the University has done really well with COVID and keeping us all safe. There are a lot of resources on campus and people are nice and helpful. There aren't as many opportunities for scholarships as I would have hoped.

When it came to college, I always pictured myself going to Howard University in Washington, D.C. Going to SEMO wasn’t my first choice when it came to me choosing the school of my dreams. I remember talking to my school advisor after taking a tour of SEMO and telling him how gorgeous the campus was. I am thrilled my school advisor talked me into looking more into SEMO and giving it a chance. I’ve had so many astonishing opportunities that opened for me and I’m so grateful for everything and everyone involved. Before going to SEMO, I was extremely shy to do anything. I am still shy, but SEMO opens doors for me to come out of my shell. I remember taking a first-year seminar class and our final exam was writing a paper and then prepare a presentation for the class. I was frightened out of my mind. I don’t like public speaking at all it does not mix well with my shyness. I talked to my advisor and she gave me all kinds of tips on how to prepare and overcome public speaking. And I went into class, still nervous, but I did, and I aced it. Later, I did something I would have the courage to do, and that was doing a pageant. I did the pageant at SEMO, I met so many people that helped me with networking. I built a bond and formed friendships that I love dearly. The food is good there is so much to choose from. Living in the dorm the RA’s are like mentors. The RA's are truly there to help you and mine were awesome there were for me lots during the stressful finals’ week and just a person there to listen to all my problems If I had any. You’ll have several resources to be able to succeed and it’s difficult to be bored while doing it. I enjoy the dedication that my professors and other staff put into my education and towards me a person. There are endless ways to get involved on this campus, and all of them welcome new members with open arms. The sense of community at this university is like none other! I’m enjoying my time at SEMO! It's a beautiful campus full of many different people, majors, and activities.

The best thing about the school is the small class sizes. Every class is capped at a maximum 25 students.
