What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Allow your child to their own research. Make sure they do and stand behind them if they need help, but reember, it is them who are going to college and picking a degree. Do not force them to go to a certain college, but see what they want to accomplish with their life. Offer advice to them, sit and talk with a guidance counselor, but know that the quality that they get will come back to help you one day.

What kind of person should attend this school?

A person with integrity, attempting to become a person with people skills and quality. Anyone can and should come here, but once hey are here, then they are allowing themselves to be molded into a better, more reliable person. It does not matter race or religion, the common goal is to love God and the people around in life.

What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

The campus, it is the most beautiful campus that I have ever seen. The facilities are all 100% remodeled or just constructed. The swaying palm trees, smell of the fresh Florida breeze, and the golden sun showing itself all day.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

To everyone involved, do not give up when the process before and during college becomes discouraging. Maintain a good attitude through all of the trials. Working towards your dreams and goals is fundamentally important, and while it will not always be fun or easy, getting the highest education you are able is always best. Stay focused and try not to make bad decisions. At all times ask for wise advice and try to be teachable. Always balance your studies with your social agenda. Finally yet importantly, remember to have safe fun.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The Chapel is too small. They need to expand so that when the have campus events in it everyone who wants to attend can.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

When it comes to finding the right college it is important that you look at schools that offer the degree at which you are interested in. Finding a school that has a good academic program and is genuinely interested in each students' success at the school and helping each student land a job post-graduation. The College experience is one of the most difficult, yet the most rewarding time of anyone's life. When going to college and taking general education classes, think back on the time your English teacher in high school made you do this really hard project and then thank him/her for preparing you for your college level classes. Aside from academics it is important to get involved in groups to get the full college experience. These groups will get you connected and help you form friendships that will last a life time. Enjoy life while you can, but while enjoying it, don't forget to work, because when college is over and you are thrust into the real world, remember that you will have to work and provide for yourself. College is one of the best ways to learn and succeed in that.

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

how unorganized the business and financial aid offices really are

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The business and financial aid because the offices are way too disorganized and the people running the place don't really care one way or the other what goes on. They also misplace a lot of paper work and fine you for things that are unecessary as well as not telling you everything you need to know first so you are constantly having to go back to the offices and finishing your paperwork. It seems like a never ending process.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

It is extremely difficult to deside which college/university is going to give you the fullest experience in the pursuit towards your degree. However, if you choose a college that was appealing in the beginning, but is no longer, that is fine. You must know that your first option is not your last. Take a tour of the campus, talk to the students to learn the true atmosphere of the campus, ask questions to teachers and/or staff members, etc. The four years of your college education is truly to set a foundation for the rest of your life. It does not mean it is concrete. Things will change, including your passions and motivations. This is perfectly acceptable. If you feel content at the school you are viewing, most likely it is for you. The most crucial fact you will learn though is this: you are paying thousands of dollars to attend a class. Do not waste that by sleeping in or having fun. Work is what will lead to success and fun, not the other way around. Lastly, it is ok to be fearful. It is a new experience. But in all honesty, it is worth every penny.

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish I had known that I would need more information academically. The advisors do not do alot to assist you and this can become somewhat frusterating. It is extremely important to make a relationship with your advisor becuase he or she ultimately helps you accomplish your career successfully, in the least amount of time.

Describe your favorite campus traditions.

Southeastern is known for equipping their students for careers that will impact the world. The College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Business and Legal Studies, the College of Christian Ministries and Religion, and the College of Education not only can equip you professionally, but also help you to see academic and professional subjects in the light of your Christian faith. Southeastern University provides students with so many great opportunities to impact the world in various career professions.

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

Southeastern University offers a Christ-centered education with 45 undergrated majors and seven graduate programs. And also international studies abroad. The students, staff and professors are an accessible, diverse group and the campus is like a vacation resort. The university offers you avenues to worship, serve, lead, play sports, strengthen community, and perform. The university helps you use your interests, talents and heart for God to develop your gifts and your character so you can impact your world. The other universities I considered, did not offer this type of learning environment I wanted for completing my course of study.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Tour the university/college campuses you are considering and go with what fits you best, not your parents or friends.
