The worst thing about my school, in my opinion, is the lack of cowbell. You would assume that a southern Illinois college would have more cows around; thus, it should also have more cowbell.
Encouragement from advisors., because some advisors dont seem to care about the actual success of the students, but more care about money.
The buildings are spread far apart. This makes it difficult to get to and from buildings during extreme weather.
It is very demanding there is a lot of course work and can be difficult to complete and a lot of group work as well.
There isn't a whole lot to do around the school except go to Wal-Mart. Also, I have to transfer because my school doesn't offer any scholarships that I am eligible for, so I have to trasfer somewhere that I can actually pay for.
There is nothing bad I can really say about this school.
The worst thing about this university is that there are some courses that are not available every semester that could interfere with graduating at expected time.
I consider the worst thing about my school is that if someone or a student looses their student ID. They will not be able to enter dorm maybe their finanical aid, but they are considerably kind to let you enter you 800 Id then they will a able to enter where their dorms on campus. there is not many thing i think is the worst thing about my school. i like very much.
At the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville I cant say that there are many things that I can consider "bad." I suppose, though, one thing that gets annoying is the price of food if you live off-campus. Students who live in the dorms get a 60{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c}/40{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} discount, meaning the school takes 60{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} off of the food cost. I think it is great, because those people are paying to stay on campus. It does get annoying; there are reasons off-campus students arent on campus - we dont have the money to pay on-campus tuition!
The professors go over the material quickly without much time for review, but then that may depend on what level you are studying. However, when attending after many years out of accademia it can be difficulg
Parking. The parking is ridiculous. You have to park a mile away and get to campus at least 20 minutes before class starts to find a parking spot and have enough time to walk to your class. I hate it especially in the winter.
the worst thing about this school is the condition of research labs in science buildings. they were built 40 years ago and remain very outdated. the equipment in them is very old and often yields inaccurate results. instead of buying new equipment, which is most likely due to lack of funding, the professors just have to explain to us what the results should be. it's almost as if we perform the experiments knowing that we're going to end up with the wrong results every time.
The worst thing about my school is the fact that there isn't many jobs available for students to participate in work study so they can get extra money to help pay for school.
The worst thing about school is maybe the parking situations. I always feel like I have to walk a mile to class.
There's is little help for the academic advising staff. Also it is very hard to make appointments with an advisor that work with a students school schedule.
As a new student, the campus was a bit confusing and I frequently became disoriented. The main buildings --such as administration, the library, the student union, and a couple lecture halls-- are all in a centralized location. However, other buildings which contain equally important student services, like textbook rentals, require driving across campus to a building where you would have to park across the street instead of the lot in front of said building.
I believe that the intstructers could offer more experiences of the real world. It is also a commuter school traffic can some times be a pain.
The Greek aren't allowed to have houses on campus due to Edwardsville township.
the varierty of difficulty within different majors
The worst thing about SIUE is that it takes a while to get used to. As a freshman I found that it was a little confusing to get through all the paper work and my couselor was extremly hard to get a hold of. She wasn't very helpful but she tought me to do things for myself because faculty won't always be there to help me.
The worst thing about my school is that sometimes a lot of the students go home on the weekends because they don't live very far from campus. Because of this, there sometimes isn't much to do on the weekends.
Councilors office when its time to sign up for a new semester or acedemic advising (they just want your money!)
The financial aid, because the office is slow and misplaces a lot of really important documents like your taxes, and also they *only* communicate through e-mail or in person. So if you don't live close by it's horrible to get along with them.
Constantly want to expand the size of the school and make as much money as possible. Need to renovate some of the existing places on campus before building new buildings and expanding.
walk too far around campus
The worse thing about this school is the lack of school spirit. The students of this school are in this place were they want to have school pride but it seems like a waste of time since we don't have a football team. However we do have a great soccer team, track team, and volleyball team. This teams are entering into the Division I conferences were more achool pride will be produced from rivaling schools.
no school spirit, everyone goes home on the weekends.
I wish the overall student body was more focused on academics and not on partying and drinking. People care about there grades but usually it's the bare minimum. I feel like this lack of effort brings me down.
SIUE is rapidly growing which creates problems for things such as parking and the need for more dorm buildings.
