Describe the best and worst parts of the social scene on campus.

Bora

The best part of the social scene on campus is that there are many events and parties through our the semesters, that makes it easier to meet new people and its much better when you go with a group of friends because than the group gets bigger by meeting your friends friends. The worst part I have to say is that there is a lot of drinking around campus, but that is the same with any other college. Before entering SMU you have to pass a course on drinking its like a test to see if you actually understand the consequences of drinking and what happens if you decide to do it. However, if you do not want to drink than you don't have to and can enjoy more things on campus that do not evolve drinking.

The worst part is definitely how it all revolves around alcohol-- and I'm not talking about just drinking a little with friends, but the social scene here is that the majority of people black out when they go out on the weekends, and especially first semester a lot of people go to the hospital because they don't know how much their bodies can handle. It's apparently been such a problem over the years that SMU has stickers in each room of the older dorms saying what to do if a friend is drunk, and there are policies in place to make sure people get help if they are so drunk that their lives are at risk and there no repercussions afterwards. The best part of the social scene is how every night there are so many different parties that you can get to know lots of different people each night-- and everyone is so friendly!
