That it's pretty far from home
Its a very big school. Sometimes you can feel quite lost and confused as to where you are. It can very challenging in stating your beliefs that might differ from the norm. Students can be very disrespectful. Not caring; very ignornant of professors. Students can have a mentality of just wanting a grade without the work. Group projects will always be tough. Professors can also be very difficulty and demanding. There can be a lot of forced attention given to professors or certain teachers, which can be very frustrating to students who don't.
I live in Lansing and some of the classes are only offered at the Main Campus in Spring Arbor. So, it is an hour drive each way and with the price of gas, this is getting very costly.
The most frustrating thing about Spring Arbor is the high price of going to school here. Though it's a great place to be and I'm thankful everyday to be here, the struggle to afford it can sometimes conquer those happy feelings. Spring Arbor offers financial aid as well as scholarships, but the amounts seem to be less and less each year. In contrast, tuition rises each year which makes it hard to pay for.
There are certain rules set to keep the students pure. So we have open hours for men and women dorms.
The most frustrating thing is that you have to have a meal plan your freshman and sophomore year and you must have one if you live in the dorms your junior and senior years.
They only offer one section of a class that usually are in the middle of the day. Its hard to commute and hold a job while attending this school. Also it seems as though none of the faculty are interested in you being successful.
The cost to attend school and live on campus. It is frustrating that I have to take out so much money in loans to attend.
I can't say anything about this yet as this will be my first semester at this university.
The most frustrating thing sometimes is getting in touch with professors, or other staff. There doesn't seem to be enough staff for the growing amount of students that come to Spring Arbor University each year. The financial aid and business office staff is working hard, but sometimes they aren't helpful enough in figuring out options that work for families who are truly struggling to pay for tuition.
The most frustrating thing about my school is its location. It is in the middle of nowhere next to a cow farm. I grew up in the city and getting used to the smell of cows has been a very hard thing for me to do.
The most frustrating thing about my school is how far it is away from my home, but other wise it is a great school.
Spring Arbor is in a very little twon so there is often not a lot to do. trying to stay active and have fun outside of school work is hard. It is very important to try and make yourself stay busy with working out or homework because that is really all that is to be done on campus. because of the lack of excitment on campus most students leave durring weekends and go to other colleges to have fun. College is for learning but it is also supposed to be the most exciting time of our lives.
Spring Arbor University has a few rules that are a bit ridiculous, yet make sense for the University.
The most frustrating thing about Spring Arbor is the lack of entertainment activities within walking distance. If you do not have a car it is hard to find entertainment spots which you can get to. Spring Arbor is a small town and, as a result, its entertainment opportunities are limited. Even though campus is close to Jackson, you can only reach Jackson by car so if you or one of your friends does not have car it is hard to get out.
I havent't found anything frustrating necessaryily. I suppose the most frustrating thing is something all students come in contact with and that is the the who, what, when, where, why questions. Since you are a new student you do not have these answers available to you at 2AM when they pop in your head. However, they have always been answered for me in the timeliest of fashions.
UNT isn't exactly the biggest school in Texas but at times it feels overwhelming when you're trying to get the attention of the advisors, or even the proferssors.
The most frustrating thing about Spring Arbor is the complaining other students do. They complain regarding their workload and outside obligations., about errors in a sylabus, about a professor not returning tests or grades fast enough, or about a grade they received but didn't think they deserved.
I would have to say for me the only thing that I find frustrating is the commute to school it takes me an hour to get to my school. I have to drive for a while and when I get done with my class it's late so when I get home I have no time to do anything other than go to bed. I also have no time at nite to spend with my family because I get home so late.
The most frustrating thing about my school is that it is so small that in a lot of ways it reminds me of a high school. It offers a lot of events to get involved and have fun but because of its size it has a little bit of a high school feel.
The most frustrating thing about my school is that there is a high cost to attend there which puts stress on me as I strive to be able to afford my tuition.
We have open hours where people of the opposite gender can come into the dorms. This is frustrating because not all people are going to do the things that they make this rule to avoid. Sometime you need to study and it is just more convient to have them in your room, or if they are good friends! I understand the rule i just wish it was changed and made a bit more lenient .
One thing that is frustrating about school is the cost. I know God wants me to be at Spring Arbor University. However, the cost of Spring Arbor is $28,500 a year. Though I get some scholarship money from the university, it's very little. Sometimes, I believe, college tuition cost can be outrageous. People can obtain a degree in two years at a Community College, a fourth of the cost of Spring Arbor. The tuition rate will only rise and find ways to take money out of the hands of students. The cost of the Spring Arbor is outrageous!
There are lots of requirements that must be met when going to Spring Arbor University, that if a student does not give there full attention to, they can become very frustrated in a hurry. If you do not know what cross cultural trip to go on, you could get stuck going on a trip that you wouldn't enjoy. Figure out what you want and go for it.
If I absolutely had to find even one aspect of Spring Arbor University that I would consider frustrating I would say that the cost of tuition is quite taxing. At just over $27,000 a year, affording four years becomes quite pricey, especially with the state of the economy. However, being a private institution, financial aid, scholarships, and grants are typically prevalent with commited help and guidance from advisors.
The most frustrating this is the open hours during the week and weekends. I am frustrate that it is only twice a week and for 3 hours. They dont have open hours for Friday nights, and that is annoying to me.
The many particular rules that are set in place over the students are frustrating at some points. There should be a middle ground between safety and rules set in place to potentially eliminate detrimental events from happening, and freedom to live out mistakes in one's life.
It frustrates me that my school is racially/ethinically non-diverse. More diversity would promote greater learning in and out of the classroom, more cultural-sensitivity and appreciation, and increased opportunity to build relationships with people from different backgrounds. Even though the lack of diversity is frustrating, it is being gradually remedied by constant efforts of our Multi-Cultural Office and through discussions (formal and informal) of race issues among student and faculty groups.
The cost, I come from a family who lives pay-check to pay-check. The cost is killing them, but it is one of the few colleges in the area that offer my major.
I would say that the most frustrating thing about my school is that we are not allowed to live off of campus until we are 22 years old, which for most of us is in our senior year. It becomes a hassle because campus living can get expensive. Sometimes it gets frustrating with loans and financial expenses that you owe the school and it could be less expensive if you did not have to pay so much for campus living. An apartment with some friends could be cheaper than living on campus.
I have found the most frustrating thing about school is trying to balance a job, family and other obligations, while still finding time for my course work. I depend upon my job to provide the money I need for school. As a nurse I am required, without fail, to be to work on time...everytime. I am often required to work a 12-hour shift in order to accomodate my school schedule. Add work to the time I spend away from my family and I find myself very torn between studying and spending time with my two, young children.
I currently attend Spring Arbor Universitys accredited program located in Petoskey, Mi. This program meets once a week for four hours. To find something frustrating about my school is proving to be difficult. I would have to say that the most frustrating thing about Spring Arbor University would be the coursework, however, this is not a bad thing. I have found the work to be a positive challenge thus resulting in a positive sense of accomplishment.
Not having alot to do on the weekends except homework.
The most frustrating thing about my school is the dining commons. Many students feel they are being ripped off by the prices of the meal plans, especially athletes. I wish we were able to choose for ourselves and not have mandatory rules on meals.
The most frustrating thing about Spring Arbor is the fact that it is in the middle of no where. Even though there is a town about 20 minutes away students without cars find it harder to get to town. The small area takes some getting used to especially for students from big cities.
Often times, the social community seems very exclusive. It can be difficult to make new friends .
Perhaps the most frustrating thing about my school is the fact that I don't have a car and it is often difficult to find rides into Jackson for a doctor's appointment or to the grocerty store.
The cost.
I love my school. I think the most frustrating thing is that feedback for online education students does not always come as quickly as it could in order to help us learn the subject more fully.
The most frustrating thing about Spring Arbor University is the cost of the school. It is a very expensive school, and is not always the most flexible with helping students to financially afford the school. I often feel that the school does not do enough to help its students financially, and does not make financial guidance as readily available for students as it should.
There is too much politics involved in campus administration, which in turn effects the students
The most frustrating aspect of Spring Arbor University is the location. SAU is located in the small rural town of Spring Arbor, and the closest city or place to do anything is Jackson, Michigan. Jackson is a fifteen minute drive from campus and has places to shop and things to do, but in Spring Arbor there is only a McDonalds. So to do anything like seeing a movie or going shopping you have to drive off of campus.
The most frustrating thing about Spring Arbor Universtity is that there isn't that much to do on campus on the weekends. As such many of the students go home for the weekend; leaving it like a deadzone for the rest who stay behind. Granted not having that many students on campus during the weekend is good for studying, but it's almost eirily quite.
The most frustrating thing about my school is the staffThe most frustrating thing about my school is the staff?s lack of communication and giving explanations for various situations. For example, there will be an email sent out to the entire campus regarding an issue going on, and they will continue to send the email numerous times giving different information in each email and then eventually telling the student body to disregard all the emails. Another example is when the staff will place holds on student accounts and not explain why.
The most frustrating thing about this school is the lack of off campus activities one wants to engage in. There are limited businesses and restaurants and a vehicle is required to get to the nearest town; it makes it difficult for some students unless they have friends who have a vehicle on campus.
There isn't much around this town.
