Bonaventure feels like an old sweater. The campus is lovely, sprawling set on a river in a wonderful valley. There are three new and very substantial buildings, the student sports center, the art & theater complex and the business facility. All completely state of the art. The dining hall has been renovated and there is a lovely cafe with snuggly chairs and a fireplace. I just love it. We have so much school spirit and both our teams had record seasons and were nationally ranked. There is great ski area 20 mins away and I went every Friday. The alumni flood the campus during events and students like talking to us. I loved every minute of being there.
Best years of my life. I went on to a top 25 graduate school from Bonaventure well prepared academically and socially. Bonaventure is beautiful place with great kids and great school spirit. My younger son is very close to committing.
He loved the visit. Parents put Bonnies on your list.
A great university with AMAZING programs. They have a variety of programs. The education program is by far the best in NYS. They also have a Physical Education program which is only offered at a few colleges in NYS. The professors are available all the time with an open door policy.
If you ski or snow board - holiday valley has amazing powder.
You will know everyone on campus.
Small class sizes.
If St. Bonaventure has your major- I suggest checking it out because the cost of the school is lower than a SUNY or CUNY School, if you are a decent student.
Another bonus is that students stay on or around campus on weekends. Not a commuter school. Although there are a few kids that are local.
I'm a parent of an Alumnus and I have a current child there. It was the best decision our family made. My daughter is in her second year of medical school through an amazing combined medical program with GW Medical school, and my son is a math major with secondary education as a minor. He has already had exposure to the education system. The professors are amazing.
My son is an incoming Freshman. We just returned from an incredible orientation. They were so comprehensive and caring. We had more time to see the campus and it is outstanding, Large, green, sprawling with excellent facilities. Impeccably clean housing and even has a lovely 9 hole golf course right on campus. Just wonderful. The other parents we spoke to were equally impressed with the quality of the event.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for St Bonaventure University is 65%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.
"You are about to embark on an exciting new adventure," I whispered to myself. "Don't be afraid, just dive right in! It is up to YOU to create your college experience. Don't let your fear hold you back because this is your time to shine! Create the person that you have always dreamed of becoming. It is a time of change, a time of growth. Soak it all in! Don't confine your college education to a classroom. Reach out to the community, engage in an activity you have not tried before, and never turn down the opportunity to meet someone new."
"The bumps will come. They always do, but don't let them slow you down. With determination and a dream all signs point to a bright future ahead..."
"By the way, living away from home will be worth the initial pain of separation, you might look into learning to play ping-pong, and laundry really isn't that difficult (you will actually come to enjoy it)."
"I'll see you in the future!"
Everyone is really friendly for the most part and it is a close knit community. I like the personal attention that you get from professors if you are having a problem with something in the class. Most professors are more than willing to put time aside to help you. All the students are friendly and their are no Fraternaties or Sororities to get you distracted from school work. It is a great school other than the price to come get education here.
Small School! The basketball games are intense and fun to attend, and you get to know almost everyone on campus just like in a little town.
You can get a lot of connections easily here, and great school spirit through the athletic program. Lots of good people and there are 2 kinds of professors here. Great ones, ones that you can't believe how nice and effective they are and at the same time care about you and your grades. And teachers that don't care what so ever and won't even e-mail you back when you try to contact them.
Funny enthusiastic welcoming.
The most frustrating thing about my school is all the red tape and people that need to approve simple things. It seems that there is almost too much regulations that are needed to be followed and it is a hastle to get anything done. Either that or people don't feel like they can make decisions so they pass it on to someone else who may or may not know whether it is a good idea for them to approve of it.
How great the people are and how much fun it is.
The worst thing is probably the seating in the dinning hall. It gets pretty cramped during rush hour lunch and we should expand the seating area in the Hickey dinning hall.
The kind of person that shouldnt attent this school is a person that is looking for big classrooms and no individual attention. Also anyone who is not financially stable because it is very expensive to go here because it is a private university. It is a small campus and I know almost everyone on the campus. So if you are looking to meet someone new every single day this might not be the university for you.
Well, I myself am still getting used to and becoming familiar with my school, but from what I have heard others say, there are many things that our school is well-known for. I hear from some that we are well known for our basketball team, others say it is our degree programs and standards, others say it is our community behavior towards one another and the spirituality we share - and our ability to share that attitude and spirituality with others! This would have to be the most common one I have heard people say. We are like family!
The type of person that wants to excell and feel like they belong at their school. This is the Bona family and we take care of our family. Some one that wants to be respected and apart of something bigger than themselves they should come to Bonas.
