Stevens is a great school. I thought I would have trouble fitting in at first. Yet, the school is big enough to make it feel like the possibilities are endless but intimate enough to make it feel like home. Most professors have your back and make sure to work with you so you work smarter not harder to complete the course work.

Stevens institute of technology provides a plethora of opportunities for students if they are proactive, including coops internships and job outlook. The career fair is also very resourceful and many students have Job placement after graduation usually with the company they did a coop with

As a student starting at Stevens Institute of Technology in the fall, my opinion of Stevens is quite positive. I am eager to make Stevens my home. Stevens is a school that allows every person to be an individual. For a technology-focused school, I was incredibly surprised at the large offering of arts clubs, humanities majors and minors, and integration of disciplines for a more unique approach. Stevens allows each person to live freely but hosts an atmosphere of intellectual and engaged students.

Stevens provided a way for me to learn many things about myself. Lets take a look at what I learned about myself from this wonderful institution. 1. Making new friends. What is college without a new place to meet new people? 2. Endless Studying. I had to take the time to make sure that all my work was done efficiently, as well as sufficiently, for every assignment. 3. Time for myself to have fun. Everyone needs time outside the classroom to relax and enjoy what you like to do, which included finding a job at a local day care, and joining the Stevens Honor Board my second semester. 4. Being on my own for the first time. Even though it was challenging, I was able to learn to be responsible and live without the guidance of my parents. 5. Five adjectives that I learned about myself in college: hardworking, passionate, determined, sociable, and loving.

An excellent school for students who are hands-on and looking for the city experience! The campus is stunning and the urban area ensures there's always something new to try. The academic plan for their engineering program is excellent and the extracurricular activities surround the majors that they offer. A lot of engineering, business, and project based clubs, great athletic programs, and a tight-knit community feel. Everyone there is so welcoming, it's like family. Though renting an apartment nearby may be cheaper than dorming, the on-campus living facilities are definitely worth checking out.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

If you're a graduate student at Stevens you're not eligible to on-campus housing, why? I have no idea. Off-campus housing is impossible since they are situated in Hoboken which is as expensive as Manhattan and really, who lives in Manhattan? Everything in this neighborhood is expensive, the food, the shops... The campus is dead, it doesn't feel like a campus, which is supposed to be a property populated by students, instead it's like going to school in some dead person's castle. The class sizes are normal for graduate courses, nothing to brag about. Some classes are even just filled in by both Masters and Phd students from finances, so that Stevens share holders can make more money. No extra-curricular activities for graduate students, NONE! Since they separate, undergrad and grad students. The student body is NOT diverse, 80% asian (east and west), 17% White, 3% people who wonder why the hell they came to America! The school culture is exactly like the American one NOT diverse and ugly! The academics is a complete catastrophe and it's not just my department, I have friends in computer science and mechanical engineering and what I'm about to say was also observed by them: - The teachers are NOT pedagogues, 1 out 10 can teach their material, the rest can't even communicate properly (either because of language barrier or just because they can't vulgarize and transmit information). Most of them are too worried about their own position and research funds to pay any attention to students. - PLAGIARISM, is the most dreadful thing in Stevens. Having a student body constituted of 40% East Asian and 40% West Asian, it's not only the source of no on-campus diversification but also the source of having the masterminds (east asians) of copying. Graduate work consists of a lot of take home projects, the combination of lazy negligent teachers who use the same projects every year and the east asian community that keeps a copy of the solutions of these projects and passes it on to the next generation, makes it that it's impossible for you to be evaluated objectively. So you either try to butter up some asian guy to give you the solutions or you do your best and watch a circus happening every single course which makes the content lose all its meaning. - Unrealistic research expectations, all PhD students are expected to come up with a topic of research during the first year. Completely unrealistic expectation because your first year is for passing courses and qualifying exams and learning about your supervisors field and research. The researchers here do not want to take you under their wings or teach you anything, they are just there to PRESSURE you to come up with something. So the work produced is obviously just a pile of lies. To sum it up, this school is a business, that feeds on rich Asian families who dream to have their kids study in the US. A complete waist of everybody's time and money!

It’s a great school that provides great opportunities. The staff and professors are more than happy to help students achieve success and find a meaningful job. The student body is active and because it is a small school, everyone feels close. The location is great but don’t expect to be living in luxury everyday

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Currently, I am a senior at Stevens Institute of Technology who is pursuing a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering. Having experienced most of the ups and downs that come with college in general, Stevens really made me feel at home. I was challenged in all of my classes, and found it easy to make friends who share the same interests and were of the same intellectual caliber. Most of the the professors I've had at this school were good lecturers and helpful during office hours. Since the campus is in the city of Hoboken NJ, one doesn't have to look far when it comes to good food after a day of classes. Stevens often has deals with some of the restaurants in Hoboken if one chooses to not dine at one of Stevens' dining facilities. The Stevens campus is also really nice as it is open and allows for one to go on pleasant walks and enjoy the view of the NYC skyline. Most of the big outdoor events are hosted on the lawns within the campus. There are always police officers on site to make sure Stevens stays a safe and respected community. The culture of the school is something worth noting. People are friendly towards one another, and are always looking to lend a hand to those who need it. There really isn't a big party culture, and the parties that do happen are controlled and safe. Students here have common sense and know how to keep events social, inviting, fun, and monitored. This is something that I really think allows for students to have fun on campus without feeling like they are compromising their safety or studies. Overall, Stevens Institute of Technology has become a place where I enjoy my studies and am surrounded by classmates of the same interests and academic performance. I am pushed to excel, and have formed lasting relationships among my colleagues. This school was definitely the best match for me, and I can't see myself doing a Mechanical Engineering program anywhere else!

What is your overall opinion of this school?

As a first year student I have definitely had a positive experience thus far. I thought I wouldn't like Stevens because it was a small campus, it had that "nerd" stigma, and for plenty of other reasons - but I was pleasantly surprised with how much I love it. The thing I love most about Stevens is the balance. Everything is in moderation. The students here are driven and ambitious, they are incredibly smart (sometimes its intimidating) but they know how to have fun. During the week, all we do is homework and focus on our career paths. We go on interviews, meet with alumni, talk to advisory boards, go to clubs, find internships and grasp every opportunity that we can to grow as people. But on the weekends, its more relaxed and kids know how to have fun. I think this is an awesome school and overall I am happy at Stevens Institute of Technology.
