The main stereotype is that UAlbany flys under the radar. SUNY's slow move to college athletics has led to a very low profile for the country's largest state university. SUNY or UAlbany doesn't have a lot of name recognition, which is a shame if you look at the academic ratings on a program by program level.
UAlbany students are known for drinking too much and not really being focused on the academic part of college. I would say we are stereotyped as the average state college student body. The dorms are known for being prison like- tiny and miserable.
Everyone brags about UA being a big party school but honestly, most of it is just talk. Yes, there are plenty of bars and house parties, but the campus in general is pretty mild as far as the whole drinking scene is concerned.
