SUNY at Albany Top Questions

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

Catherine

I would definitely have to say the diversity. There has got to be a club for every religion, culture, political views, etc. You get a chance to meet someone who is different everyday.

Nicole

The campus is very attractive, and all buildings necessary for daily school life (classrooms, libraries, dorms, dining halls, shops, etc.) are just a few moments away on foot in every direction. SUNY at Albany's Uptown campus is a bit removed from the rest of Albany, keeping students from feeling overwhelmed or crowded in a big city.

Laurie

This school is very school spirited. It offers a lot of extra curricular programs, so there are so many ways to get involved on campus. Also this campus offers alot of housing options, there is an abundance of dorm rooms, and on campus housing.

Jessica

My school is very diverse filled with various cultures and lifestyles. It is a beautiful thing when such an environment can introduce someone to many different ways of life. Furthermore, we have a fountain that brings all these different faces together at many events such as "Fountain Day."

Vanessa

This school is vary diverse and there are a lot of opportunities being in a city and in the heart of the capital district.

Alex

Honestly, UA was my last choice school and I ended up here because of money issues.. but now it's the only place I can imagine myself. It's home to me. The first few months were a rough transition but I love it and encourage anyone having a rough time adjusting to just give it time and do things you may not have before coming here - join a club you're kind of interested in, talk to that kid in class you think is cute, go out with your hallmates on a Tuesday night and sleep through your Wednesday morning class. You'll make some of the best memories here.

My school is an urban school surrounded by the huge city of Albany and is in the center of many buildings such as the state capital building.

Stephanie

Jonathan

The social life here is better than at most other schools.

Victoria

Nothing. There's absolutely nothing to do here except smoke and drink on the weekends.

Michelle

I love Albany! There is a great nightlife, and you really don't have to be 21 to get into most places. Its the perfect mix of greek/nongreek life, bars/houseparties, and oncampus fun/off campus fun.

George

the variety of clubs, research programs, internships, and activities available.

James

The mix of urban and rural setting.

Alana

It's an awesome environment to be in. It makes you feel safe and comforable and I honestly love it up here. I almost never want to leave.

Ryan

UAlbany has the potential to be a great institution of learning, but instead the administration and faculty harbors mediocrity. Albany is a city bursting with opportunity and it is wasted on our student body.

Danielle

All the classes are in one general location.

Yelisse

It has to be the people. I have been very lucky to find amazing new friends, that are focused and well grounded. They know what they want in life and have career plans as to how to achieve it. I have also been blessed to find amazing counselors/advisors, that know my name and look for me. They have to learn many names but they still take the time to see how I am doing. To see what I need and they always try to help me. I doubt you will find these people anywhere else.

Gene

GOOD

Lorie

I think I have correctly stated what I wanted to say. The school is a shithole, no one takes personal responsibility for anything, the bureacracy is completely out of touch of the student body, the kids would rather numb themselves to the world then find out the truth and they are both helping the other to do it...

Wes

UA offers a lot but students here have to be proactive to get 'their money's worth.' The facilities and student body are large enough for students to find their place and fit in.

UAlbany is a great school and I strongly recommend it to anyone looking to meet a ton of new people and be exposed to a lot. This school will make you a little tougher, since you might have to fight your way onto the bus, and cautiously walk home. But that can be a good thing. There is alot of school pride, so be prepared to hear random UA UA UA chants or the ever precious UA, YOU KNOW, which I often hear being screamed at the most random times. It's easy to get caught up in the school spirit, UAlbany really does have this over all united charm to it. While it is one big cement block, it makes the school one of the easiest to navigate, once you can tell the building apart. All the building are located around the major fountain, so you never have to worry about running up and down hills to get to a class on time. There is also a great "tunnel" system once the bad weather starts, which is October until April. The dorms are shitty, but they're fun too. The food sucks, but that's college.
