The stereotype of students at my school is that " students at Buffalo State SUNY party to much". Yes this is accurate, but we as students at Buffalo State SUNY know when the partying should end and when its time to focus on academics and earning that degree. When its time for us to focus on academics we perform outstandingly.

The stereotype of the students of SUNY College at Buffalo is that they are very energetic, and outgoing. They like to challenge many goals, not only on an academic level but in social life as well such as making friends even. The school holds many events that is operated and run by, not the school, but the students themselves. It's not only SUNY Buffalo that has jocks, frat kids and stoners; every school has them. I view this not as a deterioration of the school image but builds up the diversity of the people you can meet.

The sterotype of my school varies. We have a huge selection of sorority and frat students, jocks, geeks, and stoners. Majority of the school is greek life and geeks. Some say if you are not involved in greek life, you can't have a social life. It varies on how the student behaves or which friends he/she meets throughout the school years.

Multicultural for sure. The Main stereotype is that there are a lot of people from asian countries that attend SUNY Buffalo, which is a very accurate statement. About 10{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of the students that go to Buffalo are from a foreign country. SUNY Buffalo is also known as a highly regarded acedemic univerisity and a great reasearch institution.

The most common stereotype about UB is that the student population is over 10{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} Asian. Another one is that UB is a smoke-free campus.. yeah right.

There are a variety of "stereotypes" at UB. The main ones that I see on a day to day basis are the Long Island kids, Greek Life, foreign kids, and then everyone else is normal and friendly. No matter where you go you can meet different types of people and make new friends.

Brian

The stereotype for University at Buffalo is mainly that it's a diverse school. As students, we can't go anywhere without having at least 3 different cultures in the same room.

Jonathan

It can vary from major to major. For example, as a mechanical and aerospace engineering double major, I'm stereotyped as a bit of a geek, who spends a lot of time in the library, and as somebody who likes to show off how much they've learned. English majors are stereotyped as lazy, somewhat unproductive, and a bit out-of-the-loop when it comes to real-world usability of an english degree. Arts majors are usually associated with being hippies, and in some cases, eccentric. When all is said and done, there are a lot of geeks at UB, occasionally peppered with social butterflies, jocks, and even a few frat kids here and there.

UB is made up mostly of NYS residents. About 30{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of students are from the Western NY (Rochester, Buffalo) area, while another 25{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} or so are from the Long Island/NYC area. Both of these populations are stereotyped in what they wear, how they talk, where they hang out, etc, and tend not to mix too much. UB is also known for its diversity- we have a large population of international students representing over 100 different countries.

They're active in their social life. Most of the students wouldn't rather have academics be part of the college institution. You still find the smart ones and ask yourself how they get through, I can tell you how, they associate with one another. The student association body is corrupt and uses money lavishly sometimes. The Students are mostly international and white. They school does a lot of research and graduate students are predominantly internationals.

there are all types of student in my school, there are the frats and sorority, geeks, and alot of clubs

This university hosts around 30,000 under graduate students. Therefore UB is a melting pot! There are students that fit into every niche and stereotype, and it is impossible to group all 30,000 students into one stereotype

What is the most common stereotype at my school? That is simple! We have our Jocks, the tall guys from all around the country, whether they be basketball or football players, even soccer boys seem to be above six feet tall. We recruit Giants! Then we have our Band kids. Out until one in the morning practicing and partying like nobody can catch them. Then there are the studious kids of all types. Up early, staying up late with their nose in a book. However, the most common trend throughout the school is the unbelievable pride that every students has in their teams. Regardless of the sport; football, soccer, basketball and baseball; every game turns out thousands of fans all in True Blue colors. Our school even created its own tailgating row so that students could support their teams, apply the face paint and cheer the players. Regardless of minor stereotypes, when a student enrolls at UB, they become part of the community and cheer it until their voices break.

Well, UB is a very large universities. I cannot just say our school is full of _____ students. However, I can say there are many students who are involved in frat, and we do have many organizations, clubs, and student associations including many international associations(basically every ethnic group has one). Also there are many nation wide honor clubs. I was in two of the many, and we did have lots of fun events. Do not think students from these honor groups as bunch of geeks. They have fun when they have time, they study when they need to. I think of UB as one of the most diverse universities in this country. Hope this may help!

There's lots of different people here from all around the world. There are jocks, frat kids, stoners, and geeks. There's not one stereotype that defines us. There's probably a group out there that relates to you at UB.

About a quarter of the University's undergraduate population is made up from the Metropolitan area, and another quarter or so are from the Western NY area. Leggings and UGGs vs Bills sweatshirts. Also a large international population.
