I am completely in love with this school, from its atmosphere to its majors. Overall the school has a beautiful aesthetic, having a rather secluded and calming look to it, with many places outside that students can rest and relax. There is also plenty of support for LGBT students, such as housing, clubs, etc. Oneonta also has the best art department I have seen because even if you don't get into the BFA, they allow you into the BS program to work and better your skills, giving you the opportunity to improve and try again for the BFA if you want, or to just stay in the Bachelor of Science. No other school has done that, most won't give you the chance to improve your skills in school, expecting you to figure it out on your own time. Oneonta giving all students the chance to pursue their desired major is a big positive in my book. I want nothing more than to go to this school, as I think it has a lot of positives.
I love Oneonta. When I first visited I got a feeling that it would be a second home for me. I quickly learned that the feeling was correct and I haven't regretted anything. I've been able to work on campus for multiple jobs and become part of multiple organizations because I wanted to do so. If you want to do something else with your time here, you totally can.
I absolutely love Oneonta!!!!

When finding the right college try your best to attend open houses at all the colleges your child shows interest in, this way you both can get a feel for the campuses and their communities. Try not to pressure your child into going to the college you want them to go to, nor the Major you want them to go for. Encourage them to apply early and for more than one college. Its important to your childs educational motivation, social life, and self-esteem to be where they want to be, and studying what they want. The college years are the most important years in someones life. Their experiences and growth through the college years shape them as a person and can direct their route in life. Be their still as a parent with advice and concern but also be supportive of your childs decisions. Moving away from home can be both an extremely exciting and terryifying experience all at once; you need to assure your child that you will be okay at home without them, but that they will be missed and you will always be just a phone call away should they need support. Congratulations and goodluck!
The worst thing about my school is probably the location. It's kind of in the middle of no where. There isn't too much around, so if you want to go to a big mall or something, you have to travel an hour away. However, that is also a good thing as well. I'm not spending as much money shopping and also I stay on campus alot which allows me to experience all that life on campus has to offer.
I love the atmosphere of the school. The buildings and nature surrounding the school are really beautiful and just give off a warm feeling. There are trees everywhere and in the fall the falls are just breathtaking. I also feel so safe at school which is very important . I can walk around campus not feeling worried. The people at my school is another aspect that I love. Everyone is friendly and I have made some amazing friendships.
My classmates have been helpful in my academic pursuit.
The school is on a hill. No matter where you are, you are always walking up hill.
i would suggest if you are a photography major not to attend this college, because their are limited classes for that major.
My school is small, but not too small, and tailored to my needs as a student and resident.
Before I chose to attend SUNY Oneonta, I visited the campus and attended an informational tour which let me know most things about the school that I know now after two years of having attended classes.
