It is a great liberal arts school. The school boasts many opportunities across many different academic fields as well as extracurriculars. Sports here compete at the NCAA Division 3 level so its not a huge sports school but we have some very strong teams that are continually dominating. Also the schools sticker price is very high but almost all students get some sort of scholarship.

It's a small school, definitely. The classes have no more than 35 students and the professors are more than often very willing to form a relationship with students. They learn names and faces and have office hours multiple times a week to offer assistance or just talk with students. The athletics are fun to watch but not the best in terms of record (football was the exception). There are often parties on the weekend, but nothing massive, and there are plenty of people who don't partake, and no-one really judges.

I am very happy here. The overall atmosphere here at Susquehanna University is one of serenity and growth. The academics here are very well designed to allow students like myself to find their own path to success. The inclusion of a required, scholarly, cross-cultural experience through their GO program pushes them ahead of the competition.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

You are the change that you want to be in the world. There are endless opportunities out there, if you open the doors to create those opportunities. Life is a journey, not a destination. Take time to sit and talk with people, you will learn so much from the wisdom and experience of others, so don't rush through situations. Always enter every experience with an open mind because you never know what new skill, fact, or story you will learn from the experience. Also, remember, you don't need to reinvent the wheel. Take your background knowledge and combine it with what you have you learned from others, so that you can apply it and make it better for a new experience.

  4. What kind of person should attend this school?

The person who should attend Susquehanna should be an academic- wanting to get the best out of their education. They should be career-focused, like a small school setting, prefer one-one-one with professors. They should not expect a lot of social activity, especially off campus since this is also a small community. You should also want to be involved in volunteer work and organizations. The study abroad programs offered are amazing, in my opinion. The person should also be willing to work hard and often.

  6. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

Over the past few years as well as continuing into the future, my school as been growing in size by increasing the number of incoming freshman. I find this to be the worst part of my school because as a freshman I enjoyed how small the classes were . Small classes allowed for more discussion. The smaller the classes the more comfortable the class is with each other. As my classes have now grown in number the discussions have lessened. I have found that having the students talk with each other clarifies the material that is being taught.

I actually attended another university before transferring to Susquehanna my sophomore year. I found very unique characteristics at SU that I felt were better fit me me as a college student. I love that the class sizes were smaller than at my other university. This allowed for classes to be more of a personal discussion rather than a long boring lecture. The professors really make an effort to get know the students and it is very encouraging to me, knowing that they care so much about my success. I also loved the small town atmosphere that Susquehanna University offers me.

  13. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

What I might the most frustrating thing at school is something that is probably universal among colleges: incompetent professors. It doesn't happen often, but I've had one or two teachers who just didn't know their course material, and didn't know how to connect to students, and everyone in the class felt like the course was a chore they had to suffer through. But these professors tend not to last in the school, and the majority of professors know their field extremely well and skillfully connect with the students.
