Everyone joins Main Campus Program Board when they come to Temple. MCPB is the biggest organization on campus. They plan the major events both on and off campus.

Ari

The most popular organizations and the ones that I am most involved with are: Temple Student Government Main Campus Program Board Progressive NAACP Students leave there dorms open all the time. I met my closest friends during freshman orientation. Homecoming and Spring Fling are the biggest events on campus.

We have a very active and diverse Greek Life. I am a sister of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority Inc. We are the first Latina sorority founded in the Nation in 1975. We are small in number, but that is what I love most, because my sisters are really like sisters to me and I wouldn't know what to do without them. Because there are so many groups, you can always find something to do. The student center is always poppin' with some activity or another. And Free Food Fun Fridays are always a hit. People party pretty often, which isn't neccessarily a bad thing, but sometimes, especially for freshman, it can get out of hand. Spring Fling is always a huge event, especially for organizations, and I can't wait for this years spring fling!! A typical weekend for me would be hanging out with my sisters and a glass of wine, but I am also a senior now. When I was a freshman, I went to at least two house parties a week. For most people though that gets old after a little while and you grow up.

Eugene

Most popular organization on campus is MCPB because the help organize alot of the events on campus and colaborate with other organizations. Students in certain doorms leave their doors open like in white hall or peabody but in most builiding no. People part everyday it doesn't stop unless it's for final and even then the party starts afterwards Athletics events are very popular especially football and basketball games. Welcome week and the concerts are events that happen every year to welcome freshmen student as well as other returning students

Temple has diverse activities students can join like team sports, club team sports, and student organizations. Temple has over 300 student organizations on campus some of them are: Promoters of Animal Welfare, Purple Circle, Scrabble Club, Bethel Campus Fellowship, Dynasty (a modeling club), Temple Community Garden, Film Collective, Knitting Club, and so much more! From that brief list you can get an idea of the various clubs Temple has for each student’s interest. There are several fraternities and sororities to get involved in if a student is interested. I’m involved in both Students for Environmental Action and Temple Ad Club. SEA is a group that tries to implement environmental change on and off campus and TAC is a career oriented club that focuses in advertising issues by bringing in speakers to talk about the industry. When you live on campus in a dorm usually the first month or so students in the dorms are very social and will leave their doors open so you can stop by and chat. This is a good opportunity to speak to your fellow classmates and make some new friends! There is a lot of school pride at Temple and students are able to get free sporting tickets to all home games by showing their TU ID at the door. Temple offers shuttles to and from the football games and often have tail gate parties. Temple has theater productions throughout the year and offers a 5 dollar discount to students with a valid school id. At the beginning of every year there is a welcome week for the students to get ready for the new school year. This week involves a “carnival” of vendors and student organizations on our main strip of campus handing out information about the clubs and the vendors give away coupons and giveaway prizes. There is also a day that there is free ice cream and we usually have a concert that is free for students, including past performers such as Keri Hilson. Also every spring we have a Spring Fling which is a bigger version of Welcome week but just on one day. There are vendors and student organizations and a concert. In the past we have had the band N.E.R.D play and also J. Cole. Students usually just party on the weekends at a frat or a house party. If you are not interested in drinking Temple provides alternatives so there is less underage drinking. Every Friday there is a themed night called Free Food Fun Fridays. A student organization sponsors the night and there is a specific theme with different activities throughout the night. Every hour there is new free food presented. Some of the featured activities in the past were magicians, massages, manicures, trivia, raffle prizes, tie dye shirts, air brush shirts, cotton candy, and hypnotists are just some of them! Not only is there plenty of things to do on campus but we live in Philadelphia and there is so many tourist attractions we have access to! The Philadelphia Art Museums, Franklin Institute Museum, Love park, comedy clubs, South Street, professional sporting events, food tours, art galleries, ice skating rinks, and more!

The most popular student activity is definitely Spring Fling. It is an annual festival during the spring semester in which students volunteer to serve food, set up tables advertising their respective clubs, and organize community-building activities throughout the entire campus. Students also enjoy attending athletic events; Temple has very competitive football and basketball teams.

Diana

The most popular organizations are Temple Student Government who has weekly General Assembly meetings to discuss campus issues. The Main Campus Program Board is the organization that hosts campus-wide events. I'm the President of Ed2010, which is the magazine club. We help students get their dream internship. I'm also part of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Her Campus Magazine. Temple Basketball games are popular because the Liacouras Center is right on campus. Temple Football is just as popular because the Owls play at the Eagles Stadium. Free bus transportation is provided for students. Students also get free admission to all Temple home games. As far as the dating scene goes, most people meet others at frat parties. There are a lot of couples on campus. I met my closest friends by having classes with them. If you're on campus and don't like to party, you can either go the Reel, which is Temple's movie theater. A different movie plays every week Thursday to Sunday and it's only $1. There's also Pearl Theatre, which is right on campus too. Students get discounted tickets to the movies there. Movies and parties are the usual happenings on Friday and Saturday nights. Center City offers a lot too, such as bars, clubs and restaurants.

Ali

There are hundreds of student activities/groups at Temple. People party a lot. A popular event that happens every spring is the Spring Fling (A greatly enjoyable event full of games and a lot of fun).

Christopher

The most popular activities are, of course, sports. There’s a lot of school spirit – especially for the Temple Owls.

Mary

At Temple, most people you'll talk to have been to at least one party in the most recent month. Drinking and drug use is constant. The most suprising aspect of this is the prominence of smoking on campus. I had no idea how many people at Temple smoked and most of my non-smoking friends started a few months into their first term. Of course, you'd find lots of people who aren't doing it but you'll have to pass by a bunch of people who are. The MCPB (Main Campus Program Board) organizes events and they're great things to go to if you want to be sober. Also, there's a movie theater called the Reel open on weekends that shows late-release movies for $2. It's the cleanest, quietest movie theater I've found in Philadelphia so far. Off campus is brimming with things to do. It would be very hard not to be able to find something you'd want to do in Philly. There's a subway stop on campus and I can't think of any activity it won't bring you to. Also, lots of kids have bikes, which is a cheaper transportation solution. There's even a group of kids who meet up at the bell tower at midnight on Tuesdays to ride to the art museum to buy pretzels. Like I said-- literally anything. Just be careful about where you go and as a rule make it South of campus.

Daharis

Groups involving your major are really popular. -Temple Ad Club, Communications Studies Club, Black Engineers Association, just a few to mention.

Jennifer

are probably sports. Every one gets really hyped up during football season.

Amber

I think that one of the most popular campus organizations is Campus Recreation. They run both Temple's intramural teams as well as the club sports. Temple has about 27 club sport teams. I am actually a member of club field hockey. Joining this team has been one of the best decisions I made as a student here. I get to play the sport I love at a competitive level, without being on the division 1 team. It was also a great way to make friends within the first few weeks of college. Another type of activity I would like to touch on is Temple Greek Life. Temple has 36 Greek organizations. Ten of the male organizations are part of the Inter fraternal Council, four of the female organizations are members of the Panhellenic Council, and the rest are multicultural organizations. Greek life is not a huge scene on Temple's campus, but this is why I want to talk about it. As a member of a sorority here, I feel unique, not just one of the crowd. It is also a entirely different community in and of itself, which makes it easy to meet a lot of people because you share something so important in common. At many large schools, if you join a sorority or fraternity you are simply just another student with letters on. However, at Temple you are seen as a leader and unique individual.

football, basketball, sororities, honors societies

Stephen

Football and Basketball games.

Temple athletics are very important, and many students come out to support their school at games. Music and theater are also very important and filled with the most amazing talent. The dramas and musicals put on in Temple's Tomlinson and Randall Theatres are amazing. Partying is definitely an option if you so choose, but it doesn't dominate the social scene. On Friday nights the student center hosts events until late with free food and activities. If you don't want to do anything at Temple, you can head into center city where there is always something to do.

Savannah

There are probably close to 150 different student organizations on campus. I am part of a few clubs but main Campus Programs board is probably the biggest student organization on campus. They are responsible for events like Homecoming and Spring Fling which are always lots of fun. Greek like is also very big on campus. There are so many different types of fraternities and sororities here. The sporting events are also a big deal on campus. Most of the home games are free to students but I make sure to get the Cherry and White pass so that I can get guaranteed tickets to big games like the Temple vs Duke game in January! We have a lot of school spirit so the games are always crazy! And of course there are always parties! And they're not that hard to find, just ask around. And if you're not into partying there's always Free Food Fun Friday which is an alternative to partying. Being that Temple is in historic Philadelphia, there is so much to do here. There are tons of museums and sites to visit like the famous Art Museum where a famous part of the the movie "Rocky" was filmed to Rittenhouse square. There's also places like South Street and Olde City which are fun places to explore.

Tara

I am currently in the National Society of Leadership and Success and the National Society of Colligate Scholars. There are many organizations on campus and many opportunities to get involved. It is recommended to leave your doors open if you live in a dorm and I did that last year as a freshman and made many friends. Everyone goes to athletic events and when we have pep rallies, they are a lot of fun if you go with your friends. I met my closest friends from my dorm last year and we are actually looking into getting a house together. You will definitely make some life long friends if you are willing to get out there and meet new people. If you're awake at 2 am on a Tuesday night, I guarantee you aren't alone. Temple's campus never sleeps. I party all the time with my friends and still manage to keep my grades up. My favorite memories last year were spring fling and st. patty's day. If you aren't the drinking type though, you could always visit center city on the weekends or take a trip to pats and ginos in south philly. There are great restaurants in center city and museums and art. I recommend to visit the franklin institute!

Julia

I am involved in NSCS, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, which is an honor society geared toward aiding the student financially through scholarships and offering philanthropic opportunities. Freshman year I joined the residence hall government, which was a great opportunity to get some experience in a leadership position, as well as meeting new students. Whether people leave their doors open or not depends on the residence hall. The suite style dorms keep their doors shut for the most part, but the regular dorms are more open to visitors. Many students are interested in athletic events (especially because they are free), but there are also many students that have no interest. I met my closest friends at Temple because they were my roommates. My other good friends I met in class and through friends, but my network of friends has definitely expanded exponentially. If I am awake at 2am on a Tuesday, I'm either studying or leaving karaoke night at Maxis. Homecoming is a big event that occurs every year, with a whole week of events ending in a concert. Spring Fling is also a big event, which usually happens in August, with various clubs lined up on campus offering goods and activities. Spring Fling also has a concert at the end of the day. People usually party at Temple on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, but there is plenty to do other than partying and plenty of students who aren't interested in partying. Getting to the heart of the city is extremely easy on the subway or on the bus, or I guess if you're up for it, a long bus ride. There are plenty of things happening in the city if you get bored on campus or need a change of scenery. The food on campus is great as long as you don't have a meal plan. The cafeteria food and food in the Student Center is not the greatest, but some of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten were at the food trucks located all over campus. If you're looking for an exciting school with tons of activities for every type of student then Temple is the place for you.

Jennifer

Greek life is not the most popular thing on campus but there are certainly a ton of people that participate. Almost everyone I know is in a group or club of some kind. I personally am on the Swim Club and a member of the Italian Club. It is a great way to either keep in shape, keep up on academics, or just meet people. A lot of people participate in the Wild Cherry group which is for hard core Temple Sports Fans. They organize events surrounding different Temple sports events.

Neha

Sport is for sure the most popular. I am involved in the Biology society, and other science society. I used to leave the doors and window open in dorm to get the fresh air. I met my closet friend on the freshman orientation. I used to live in dorm in freshman year, student in the dorm used to party often. There are off campus activities arranged by the societies.

Brooke

The most popular organization to be apart of is Membership Campus Programming Board (MCPB). There are a plethora of organizations though that will fit what you are looking for. If there is nothing that you like, you can start your own!

Jesse

There are so many clubs on campus, there's literally something for everyone. I met my closest friends through freshmen orientation and my classes. Things such as Templefest, Homecoming, Sexfest, and Spring Fling occur every year. The sororities do basically nothing on campus, but the fraternities throw a lot of parties. They are becoming more and more prevalent on campus. Many of their houses are very dirty though. If you're not into drinking or partying, you have the entire city to explore!

Ainsley

athletic events aren't big at TU because quite frankly our teams suck. most peeps go to Center City for night life, because North philly isn't wear you go clubbing.

Vick

I will be biased and say the best activity is WHIP Temple's Student Run Radio. I busted my ass (excuse the profanity, but it is the best way to put it) for four years at Temple. Sadly I did not get to see the fruits of my labor come to fruition, but Temple finally gave in and with the support of the School of Communications we got the funding to build. It has been a bumpy road from what I heard, but the students who want a career in radio and broadcasting need to know about it. It can only succeed with students who want it to succeed. It is almost like a real career in the industry. You have to put your whole heart into because it reflects the students who run it.

Alex

i think my fraternity, alpha epsilon pi is up there ont he most pupular. the social life here is amazing. greek life is very important on campus because it teaches discipline and leadership.

Jamie

The activities that Temple offers was a big turn-on for me. There are soooo many clubs to join...as well as varsity and intramural sports teams. Since i don't live on campus...i know that i miss out on a lot of the goings-on...but i still feel like i am a huge part of the school. They offer things like fall fest and spring fling to bring all the students together.

Janna

I didn't think Greek life was big here before I came, but their presence is definitely felt on campus.

Harrison

Personally, I am a brother of Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity, and we are recognized for being very involved with campus activities. The Greek community recognizes us for our academic achievements, as we have the highest cumulative GPA out of all other fraternities on campus. The Greek community is really important to campus functions, as they sponsor a lot of events campus-wide. Athletics are pretty big here, especially football and basketball, since they are played closest to the main campus. Soccer, baseball, and softball are all played off campus, so it's hard to watch those games. The party scene is pretty good. Most of the time you run into the same people, which helps form friendships quickly.

joe

temple activities and social life are amazing. Being a brother of the best fraternity on campus really allows me to see just how vibrant it is. This past spring fling showed just how great temple's campus is. it was one giant campus party. GREEK LIFE OWNS.

Amanda

There is alot of support and school spirit for Temple athletics. People party mostly on the weekends. The fraternity/sorority life is not very important. Most students stay up very late just hanging out. The off campus living is great too.

Meg

Temple has a great social life. Men's basketball games are extremely popular, but other sports don't have as much of a following. The dating scene is great, and it's very easy to meet members of the opposite sex at class, activities, parties, etc. I met my best friends from my dorm Freshman year, and we stayed great friends. Spring Fling is probably teh biggest party event of the year (As students start drinking around 6 a.m., and don't go to class all day). People party 7 days a week, but mostly Wed - Saturday. Fraternities/Sororities are on campus, but there is not a huge Greek life at Temple, and it is certainly not necessary to join one to have a great social life.

Jody

Temple has a variety of social events, functions and clubs. people bond very nicely especially in J and H because everyones door is always open. if your are a partier, there is always a party somewhere you just need to know where to look. but Thursday nights is the campus party night because alot of people commute and are not here on Friday and Saturday nights, and everyone knows where to party on Thursdays...AEPi

Jordan

I live off campus in center city so its very different for me, i have a huge group of friends and only a few go or went to temple. i would never want to live on campus, the parties and bar scene is terrible.

Brett

Temple's social scene has greatly decreased for me over the years. I rarely go to Temple parties because a lot of friends commute now or live way off campus. Athletics aren't as big as they could be, Temple would be better if it were more of a party school, and our spring fling is increasingly becoming overrated.

Colin

everything

Barry

The freshman dorms are crappy, which is the best possible way to do things - I met almost all my best friends freshman year, just wandering the halls from room to room meeting people. After that, social life can be tough, since so many people live off-campus. I highly recommend going greek. I pledged a fraternity, and it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. Greek life isn't huge at Temple, but it is the backbone of the social scene. Most students aren't greek, but the vast majority of the parties and events are thrown by fraternities. The dating scene is what it is. There's a lot of people, so there are options for everyone. I met someone my first week there and ended up being with her for two years, and many of my fellow alumni are marrying people they met at Temple. But sometimes you just need to get the hell off campus, so senior year I dated a Penn girl. I highly recommend that - it's good to spend time at other area schools.

Jackie

Given that Temple is located in the great city of Philadelphia, there are an endless possibilities of things to do. One of my favorites, is to take a group of my friends on a nice day and walk around Old City or Rittenhouse Square and take pictures. Philadelphia is a gorgeous city with so much fascinating history, there are still things that I haven't been to or seen that I want to. Fraternities are big at Temple but sororities are not. They exist but since they don't have sorority housing, I guess it never really grew. The coolest thing about events at Temple happen at the Liacouras Center. A huge venue right off Broad Street where everyone from Barack Obama to Green Day come to visit. And maybe you won't be a huge Temple Athletic fan, not gonna lie our football team is kind of a joke, but HELLO you're in Philadelphia! Going to Phillies games have been some of my greatest times here. Then theres always tailgating in the parking lot for Eagles games, Flyers in the winter-you can't go wrong!
