Most of the professors are extremely welcoming, friendly and professional. Some of the buildings are rather old but they are clean and efficient. The students are nice and willing to help newcomers. Fun decorations throughout campus and the school makes an attempt at making events to bring students together. Quiet most of the time which is good for learning. Class sizes are on the smaller side which is great for a better connection with the professors.

As a freshman, Texas Lutheran University is a great college to attend. The one-on-one time you get with professors if you need help on school work or a personal issue their here to guide you in the right direction. Living on campus I feel safe, if their is an issue I notify my RA, professor, and/or the Campus Police. Everything I need is on campus, library, supplies, food, friends and more.

Ladies and gentleman, I welcome you to the experience of my life as a student of Texas Lutheran University! When you think about the school that will allow you to truly grow, you should think about Texas Lutheran University. Coming from a large high school, where African Americans were the dominant ethnicity, there was a definite culture shock that came from attending a predominantly white private school. Fortunately, the students, the staff, and the community as a whole had helped me adapt to this environment well. That is a trait that you won't find at other schools. The people within the city of Seguin actually want to help you and see you grow into your own person. The love is also shown from TLU back to its community from the groups and organizations that want to help to cultivate its city. It's not just fraternities and sororities do community services but also organizations such as the Black Student Union (BSU) or even classes such as my Social Problems class where I volunteered at an alternative school. This school is very personal, so I feel that this review should make every reader see the significance of how connected this city is. This school is small, but it is slowly growing and I feel that it is a place where students should want to be. You can receive an education that actually means something here and it is easy to stay connected, The students always come out to support, if its football games, volleyball games, and track meets. There is even intramural sports so all students are given the opportunity to come out of their dorms and stay active. Finally, this school allows you to stay active within your religion. There is a chapel in the middle of the school where students can gather and share their faith and religion without having to drive out to find a church. Here you will find teachers, students and pastors united to share the word of God. Overall, this school is still growing, and although there is still a long ways to go before it becomes a household name outside of Texas, it serves a great purpose to those who attend and live around it. I love this school!

Over all I love Texas Lutheran! I am a cheerleader here, so that has allowed me to become close with a variety of people. The freshmen housing is excellent and there are a lot of options, but the sophomore housing is lacking and needs to be upgraded. The professors are really kind and I feel like they are what make the school besides the students.

Texas Lutheran University FAQS

  1. What is the Acceptance Rate at Texas Lutheran University?

The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Texas Lutheran University is 42%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Hey bro. Start the tough classes now. Save the easy generals until the end. Although you think you want to major in Radiology, you'll end up changing your mind to Electrical Engineering because Radiology takes 10+ years of schooling. Then, you'll change your major again to Civil Engineering because you don't want to deal with the electromagnetic world due to its intense complexity. Also, save up as much money as you can, even though you can't attain a job because of the ailing economy. Apply for a plethora of scholarships, because if you don't, you'll regret it when you see the price of tuition. Also, try to enjoy your last week of high school, as you will miss your friends and teachers. Don't worry though; you will get over it once you start college! College brings freedom of choice and endless possibilities. It feels great to be treated as an equal, and not as an inferior. High school is nice, but college is so much better. I will leave you with on last thing. Network, network, network! The more people you know, the more options you have for your future career et cetera.

  3. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The most exasperating fact about Texas Lutheran University is its location as well as its undersized (small) campus. Texas Lutheran University is located near the small town called Seguin in Texas. As an international student I find difficult living in Seguin and other cities around because there isn’t any particular place where students can meet and have fun with each other. In addition, the campus is small and limited to outside student activities.

  4. What kind of person should not attend this school?

During my frist semester, there were a lot of athletes who went to TLU just to play sports, but a lot ended up failing. Students who are attending TLU just for sports are going to have a very difficult time juggling academics and athletics. They have to have the drive to do well in school as well as sports. Academics has to come before athletics, but for most, it ends up the other way around. It is not very smart to pay the money it costs to attend a private school and not do the best you can do academically.

It is small. Everyone knows your business. I love that it is far enough to get away all the while surrounded around major cities. The town has strong roots and very community oriented.

  9. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

The most frustrating thing about TLU is the social atmosphere and the emphasis on the Greek life here. There are times when it can start to feel a little bit like high school and if you don't participate in Greek life you aren't considered "cool," but it all depends on how much you branch out and make an effort.

The best thing at my school is the economy i think its wonderful here the campus is beautiful, the professors are very nice they will help you in any way they can. the classes are very small here that maximum students in one classroom is like 30 and to me thats what i like because you can focus more and you have a better chance of having one on one with your professor than you would with 100 sturdents or more.
