Texas State University - San Marcos was a perfect fit for me. Though I switched my major 3 times, I was welcomed in each department with open arms and constant encouragment. I was brought to the univeristy because of it's excellet communications program and ended up graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Business. I wish I could have done both but was unable to float that type of schedule. The town of San Marcos is a great place to be, during the school year and in between semesters. I miss that place!

Personally, I am not a person who likes to brag. I believe that everyone is unique in there own way. I know that I have made great accomplishments in college though, such as making the dean's list both the fall and spring semester. I was involved in my school's hip-hop dance/step team, called Harambee, and part of the Baptist Student Ministry. Although I do all of this, I honestly do not brag. I see no reason in wanting to manipulate people to like me for what I have and not who I am.

I brag that Texas State not only has a beautiful campus but a beautiful city and surrounding areas. The mix of city and country gives San Marcos a home town but big area feel. Floating the river is probably the thing I most brag about though. Being able to just hop in a clear, cool, fresh river and float down it or spend sometime outside is the number one thing most people think of when they think of Texas State in San Marcos. Also, the food options on campus are so awesome!!

One of the best things about San Marcos is the beautiful and relaxing river where students lay-out or float. There are wonderfully green and lush trees that give off a paradise feel in the hot Texas climate. Being ranked as one of the prettiest campus' isn't the only thing I brag about, I also mention how perfect San Marcos' location is because Austin is only 20 minutes away and there is New Braunsfels and San Antonio in close range as well. A beautiful and San Marcos' amazing location are top things I brag about.

When talking about college, I boast most about the community in which Texas State University provides. Because of the community, it is simple to get involved in something more than sorority or fraternity life.

They have many activities to join in on. I am most impressed with their Gym/Workout room.

We have a real river running through our campus and city! We are also located between Austin and San Antonio, two metropolises full of fun. Many students also have fun exploring San Marcos. We have outlet malls, countless restaurants, and several shops around the town square. San Marcos is easily accessible to any environment--to the east, we have rural areas. To the west, the Texas Hill Country. To the north and south, we have two of the largest cities in Texas, not to mention the fact that our campus is full of friendly faces. What more do you need?!

Kelsey

The scenery around campus is just amazing. The plants are beautifully landscaped and the buildings seem to have been worked naturally into the Earth. You can take hikes at the north edge of the campus or jog on a trail by the river on the south edge of school. Or if you don?t feel like jogging, the entire campus is constant hills and steps so it?s like getting a workout just walking to class!

The study spaces at Texas State are the most comfortable, homey nooks and cozy spots a full-time commuter student could ask for. I don't live on campus and I commute from Austin so when there's too much time between classes I look for a hidden spot to study or sleep. The LBJ Student Center is filled with spots like these - you feel like you're walking into someone's living room at times., I like the rocking chairs the best! The library also has some wonderful study spots and comfy chairs.

Aimee

The school is great! People around campus are so friendly and the atmosphere makes the entire college experience more memorable and educational.

Texas State has the most beautiful campus I have ever been to! You do not have to worry too much about staying in shape because our campus is built on a hill so the majority of the time you are walking on an incline and is a great work out. The San Marcos river runs right through campus and Sewel park is a great place to relax, lay out, read a book or whatever you desire to do! The campus isn't too big or too small and easy to find your way around!

How it has such a small-town feel, like I had lived there my whole life. It is very welcoming and open campus and all of the people I have met are here for the same reasons I am, to get the very best education I can and enjoy the journey.

Silvana

I brag about the beauty in San Marcos. My friends and I enjoy doing outdoor activities and there are two rivers that run through our town. I have to say that the river was one of the reasons why I stayed. Waters so clear you can see straight through to the bottom and even glimpse at your own reflection. Clean and clear areas where we can go hiking and camping or just to lay out. I absolutely love how beautiful it is around my school.
