Texas Tech University is a great campus that radiates school spirit. Everyone who attends this great school is welcomed and loved. The students here care about one another and show kindness and respect when it is not always necessary. Texas Tech University is a very good school for academics. However, there isn't much to do on campus besides study or watch Netflix. Most of the students go out four out of seven days of the weeks simply because there is nothing else to do. The classes are very interesting and the professors are usually ready to help whenever a student asks. Overall, Texas Tech is a good school with not much to do in your free time.

Overall a great atmosphere. There is always plenty to do, and plenty of people to meet. Huge campus so I don't feel as bad if I miss a workout due to studying. There's a nice variety of food to choose from, and its great quality, not as good as a home cooked meal of course. Overall Texas Tech has created a safe, loving home from me away from my home.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Texas Tech is a beautiful school. The campus is meant to resemble Spanish renaissance architecture. As a music student I think that the music education program is amazing; 100% of students find jobs as music educators after graduating. For people aspiring to become a performance major, they might be better off somewhere else. The string teachers are exceptional with degrees from New England Conservatory, The Julliard School, Rice University, and many others, but Tech does not have the proper resources (yet) to accommodate the needs of performance majors. Overall Tech is a great school with an amazing faculty. The football games are always fun from the masked rider making a sensational entrance to the trowing of tortillas at the opening kickoff and touchdowns. The housing events are always informational from alcohol awareness to watching presidential debates and discussing them after. And the students are always smiling whether they were just invited to a party or they experienced something amazing on campus like a game, club, church, or a traditional event on campus such as the Carol of Lights close to Christmas time. Despite the occasional smell of farm in the mornings or evenings, Texas Tech is a great place to be.

It is absolutely amazing. I'm so glad this was my college of choice. I encourage others to look into this school all the time because of the people, experiences, resources and so much more. They say you're college experience is your best, and believe me I agree to the fullest.

Texas Tech University is a home away from home. Everyone is really friendly, and you will always have something to do. Although we are known for being a "party school," our academics and professors are among the elite in state education. Professors are willing to help you if you help yourself. If you don't get caught up in the wrong things, you can excel at Texas Tech University.

I like the way Texas Tech looked it was a huge school with a lot of opportunities. I felt safe just stepping foot on campus. I want to attend Texas Tech University and learn here. When I visited Texas Tech there were so many people who greeted me one by one. I fell in love in that moment. I want to go there and be apart of something huge.

Overall, Texas Tech University is a great school. Most professors are really tough on grading. Every semester is stressful if you are an engineer. There is a lot of opportunities to get involved with Texas Tech. There are many societies, organizations, and Greek life to join (even non-panhellenic). There is not much to do in Lubbock, but if you make friends Texas Tech is a good environment. I lived on campus for the 2015-2016 academic year and there was a lot of crime. I lived in an all girls dorm (Knapp Hall) and did not have access to a blue light (emergency phone) in case of an emergency (pretty scary at night). Overall, I enjoy getting my education here. I wish there were more extracurricular activities closer to the school or provided by the school. The school does provide a few outdoor trips you can pay for, but not many.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Overall, the University is great. The students are easy to get along with and are generally polite and respectful. My rating of the school is specifically based on the Agricultural and Applied Economics Department (AAEC). Our department is severely underfunded. The building is in extremely poor condition and the only improvements I've seen since 2013 are by painting the interior of the building. The level of technology available to students is sub-par, with only one computer lab available at any given time. The computers and operating systems are outdated and not capable of handling the spreadsheets and applications we need to be able to analyze financial statements, excel spreadsheets, etc. The professors are almost all from foreign countries and a majority of the entire faculty/staff have absolutely zero experience in working within the agricultural industry. The theories taught in economics are as outdated as the building, the professors severely lack the necessary skills to effectively convey and teach the information clearly or efficiently and mostly read off of PowerPoint lectures that are decades old and worded with incorrect grammar and use of the English language. I could write a dissertation on the inefficiencies of this department, but I don't have time. Overall, this department fails to remain competitive to other universities with similar programs and does not offer a quality education in any facet. Save your money and go elsewhere or choose a different major.
