What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish I would have known the challenges I was going to face in my personal life that would effect my college career. After realizing an exstensive history of abuse and being diagnosed with depression, psychosis, and post-traumatic stress disorder, I had to take medical leave to get myself back on track. If I could go back in time I would wafrn myself of what I was going to discover so that I could plan better ways to handle it when it finally arrived.

I wish i had known that tuiton would raise by 10k in the past 4 years.

That independence can be a good thing. If you try there is always a way to find help, and someone is always willing to help you.

I wish I had known a little bit more about the social life on the weekend, so then when I came to campus it would have been easier to navigate. When you come for orientation, they show you students gathering for different "fun" activities and that doesn't happen all the time.

The independent study is incredibly difficult but it will define a large part of your college experience. It's worth every sleepless night spent at the computer or library.
