The University of Findlay Top Questions

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

justin

The worst that I hear and see is unfotunetly the teachers. There are some teachers who are not always the greatest at teaching and definitly hurt the students's education. The phrase "passing depends on what teacher I get" is a common phrase throughout college and here is definitly no different. Thankfully not many teachers are this way, but there are enough to warrent a slight problem.

The worst thing about my school was the guidence system. My previous college spoiled me as I could choose my own courses and have an academic counselor who knew what they were doing approve it. My academic counselor at Findlay was not familiar with the requirements for my degree and as a result, I almost did not graduate on time. Planning the next semester was always an arduous task with me almost having to beg and threaten to get the classes I needed to fullfill my requirements.

I consider the worst thing about the University of Findlay to be that most people go home on the weekends. U of F is completely against alcohol (which I have no problem with) but a lot of people leave to go to other schools or to go home to party on the weekends. This leaves school a pretty boring place sometimes. I believe that if more people stayed things would be exceptionally different.

The worst thing about my school in my opinion is the meal plan. You have to have a meal plan while living on campus, the lowest plan still costs you $8,000 a year. For a student who is a picky eater or isnt able to make the meal times, its a waste of money.

Sarah

I think that the worst thing about Findlay is not having more options on our meal plan.

Eden

The worst thing about Findlay is the distance it is from my home. I really do love it here and the more time i spend here the more it is becoming like a home to me. I learned not to just give up on a place after the first semester, give it time to grow on you.

Kevin

I think the worst thing about my school is not getting nearly as much cash for the books that were bought at the start of the semester.

Julia

The price of textbooks and the amount of money you get back when you sell them back which is not anything close to what one paid.

Kelsi

The worst thing about my school is the very high cost. It's very difficult for the average student to find funds to attend a private university like The University of Findlay. Luckily, they offer scholarships for academic acheivement and individual talent.

Ashley

I am transferring to the University of Findlay next semester so I cannot really say what the worse thing about the college is, but what I hate about any new workplace or school is getting to know the campus and my way around. It will be difficult at first to avoid getting lost, but anything is achievable.

Logan

The worst thing about my school would be that it is a private school so it has high tuition costs.

Sammantha

The advising portion of my education has been the worst thing about the University of Findlay. Your personal academic advisor does not know you personally nor do they pay close enough attention to your progress and classes to keep you on take for graduation.

I would have to say the only downside to this school is getting approved for off campus housing. There are a lot of circumstances that need to be met before one is allowed to live off campus. It is expensive to live on campus, pay tuition, and any other fees needed. To live off campus, it would make paying for the school not as hard. If they would be a little more lenient about living off campus it would be a lot better.

Trina

The housing staff is very unorganized in placing students in on campus housing. It is required that one lives on campus until they are 22 years of age or if they live outside a 30 mile comuting radius. There are more students here than available housing so many students are told to find a place off campus and expected to move out in 2 days.

Kara

I believe the worst thing about my school is the housing policy. We are required to live on campus for the first three years unless you are 22 years old, have a senior status, or live with 30 miles of campus. Most colleges let students live off-campus after the first year. This is just a way for the college to make more money because it is very expensive to live on campus.
