Make sure you look at more than one school, take weekend trips to get the feeling for a school. Ask your tour guide how he or she likes the school, and what they don't like about the school. Make a decision based on how you liked the school and how you would fit in. Look at the greek life and how they can help you get involved. Stop by the Student Activities Office to see the clubs that are avaliable for students to join. Visit the school more than once beforing making your decision. Ask other students how they like the school. Look at the class room sizes and the professor to student ratio.

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

That the majority of the kids who come here are from the east coast of the united states. Lots of New Yorkers. But it is Tampa fun in the sun. And if you want to study hard you can here if you want to party hard you can do that also just dont expect to be around for very long.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

When looking for the right college, definitely go and visit whatever school you are looking at. Once you are there, go on campus tours and get a feel for the entire enviornment of the school. Try learning as much as you can about the campus, housing, classes and the social atmosphere. Don't be afraid to ask random students or faculty what they think of the school and how they like it, because these are the people that know the most and will tell you the truth, rather than hearing it from some brochure you recieved in the mail. At college, you learn a lot about yourself and many different types of people. Don't take it for granted and embrace every person individually and every experience you have. It will definitely make you grow to become the person you are meant to be.

What's unique about your campus?

The friendly enviornment and closeness of the students and faculty throughout campus. Whenever something goes wrong in school or your social life, there are always people there to talk to no matter what the situation is.

What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

I brag most about how nice the campus is and how much there is to do at and around school. From all the palm trees to the historic Plant Hall, Tampa offers a one of a kind experience for me.

Finding the right college is definitely very difficult and based on my experience, my best advice would be to research and visit the top three colleges. I did not do this and decided to only apply to one school and go there based on the sheer fact that my older sister went there. Asking other students when you go visit the schools would also be a good idea since students know best about the college experience. By visiting schools and asking students, it should make the decision of picking the right college a whole lot easier and it should also help make the most out of the college experience.

Describe your favorite campus traditions.

I think my school is best known for the castle called Plant Hall. It reminds me of the castle from the Disney movie Aladin. A symbol that will always remind me of our school is the Mineret. They are these huge gold colored towers with moon scultptures on them. They appear on just about everything around our campus and it was even our plane in a Red Bull competition this past summer. We have an outgoing, wide variety of people and teachers to interact with. Our school is an unreal experience that you have to live to understand.

I would have to say that choosing where you are going to attend college is one of the hardest decisions to make. However, something that I feel is always imprtant to think about. Is that college is what you make of it. It sounds so cliche but it truley is. Wherever you end up you just need to just have a good time and make the best of it.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

College is all what you make it. With only a few years to make memories that will last a lifetime, it is crucial to find a college that fits YOU. A lot of people may have an opinion about a certain school, or have heard rumors about a school, but only you know which school will be the right fit. Do not feel pressured by outside factors to make a certain decision. After visiting schools, there will ultimately be one that stands out as a school where you can feel like you belong. Do not settle until you find that comfort. Whether it be college searchs online, or some schools that you have already heard of, keep an open mind. You may never know what will end up feeling right.

Describe the students at your school.

My classmates are nice, helpful, concerned with their future, but always ready to have a good time.

What's unique about your campus?

My school offers the best of all worlds. We are right in the city of Tampa, but only fifteen minutes from the beach. Our campus is also located right on the Hillsborough River, which offers more serenity around campus. Whether you wanted a nice park to be able to study in, a city setting, a night life, or a quiet life, you will be able to find it all at UT. If a great night out consists of the aquarium, upscale shopping, clubs and bars, or a nice movie, it is all within walking distance of our campus.

Visit every school! Make sure you take tours and talk to students who are walking around because they will give you the most honest opinions and answers. Take the time to look at the buildings and majors to make sure that the class size is what you need and you feel comfortable.

What's unique about your campus?

The best thing about my school is how beautiful it is. It is full of so much history and beautiful architecture that anyone who visits will fall in love.
