What are the academics like at your school?

Julio

The University of Texas at El Paso has topped in the top ten in the Washington Post and has been attracting more favorable spots in recent past and future years. Though this school is not a credited like other well known Universities such as Harvard, Yale, Princeton , Stanford, yet it shows promising change in its academic progress as more grants and projects are being introduced in the medical field and engineering department. This in turn would raise the importance of a academic average. This though does not cross the fact that the University of Texas at El Paso is being one of the most promising schools to look at and that attention will increase throught the next future years due to its expansion.

UTEP currently has over 70 different majors and because of this a student has a hard choice when it comes to what they want to do. But for me Art Education has always been a dream and more every year i learn the nuances of being a teacher. I find it will be hard and it is a position no one should take lightly but for me UTEP is a school that prepares me to be a great educator

Marilyn

Although I am an online student the professors take the time to get to know each student.

I am not in a position in where i would have access to college students GPA but of what I have seen and heard I would say this school has an average performance in academics. Students fall between 3.0 to 3.8 for the most part. It is a great college with professors who know what they are talking about and get excited about the topic that creates a more friendly learning environment. Freshmen and Sophomore classes are usually large auditorium like classrooms and it is difficult for the professor to know you by name but if you are outspoken and participate in class they soon learn who you are. often while walking to your classrooms you encounter students with open books and reviewing notes. I thought it would be a rare scene but I have come to realize it is more frequent than I thought. Students do care for their grade and the bettering of their future career.

Like anyone, not only professors, if you talk to them and introduce yourself its obvious that theyll remember your name

It depends what class you are taking whether or not your professors know you. If you are in the general ones where everyone needs to take it then the chances of being known by your professors is to participate and attend their office hours. If you are in smaller classes then they definitely will know who you are and will even want to check in with you at the middle of the semester.
