Tiffin University Top Questions

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

Molly

That time managment is critical within the college setting, you cannot miss classes and it is frowned upon if you arrive late. Another thing that i wish I had known was that the school had so many groups and clubs to join and to use to meet new people. Most of the professors are very helpful and will see you even if they are not in their office hours. While other professors are not so helpful and often have to be badgered by the student to agree to a reasonable meeting time on campus.

I wish I had known that they were planning a new Bachelor of Science for Forensic Science majors so I could have planned my classes and prepared for the new major better.

I wish I would have known that my parents were not going to be supportive of me receving a higher education. I just turned ninteen and never would have imagined myself working a part-time job, going to school full-time, getting good grades, and not being supported in my decisions.. Both of my sisters became pregnant an did not complete college, my parents work themeselves do death to make ends meet because they do not have a higher education and they judge me everyday for going to school. I never wanted to take this journey alone.

I wish I had known that the food is not as good as it is on the days prospective applicants come to visit; I also wish I had known how close-knit the students were, and how easily people can find things out about one another without talking directly to the person.

I wish i would have known it was way different from high school. You have to do everything on your own. there is nothing to do, but for some reason you think there is everything to do, and you dont want to do your homework. I get it done; however, it takes me a while.

Felishia

I am overall satisfied with Tiffin University.

Tiffin University is not particularly academically challenging, though a large part of that fault lies in the students' lack of motivation and devotion. I wonder if a more prestigous school would have helped me fulfill my potential. I miss a sense of strong school pride, too. I think if our athletic programs were more successful and the campus came more alive, students would feel a greater connection to the school.

There is really nothing that I was not informed about before attending this school. I was constantly getting emails and letters from TU inviting me to orentations and freshman weekends and I attended everything I could. For freshman weekend we got to sit in class rooms and ask upperclassmen questions about the campus. We also had the chance to sit and talk one on one with professors. I was in contact with my advisor and the dean of criminal justice prior to coming to school, which definately made the transition from home easier.

The only thing that I wish I would have known before coming to Tiffin University would be that there isn't much to do around the town of Tiffin. Tiffin is a small community and doesn't have the same things to do as the big city that I grew up in. You have to be creative with things to do around campus and the town.
