The best thing about Trinity is the school spirit and the love and pride that people have for the school. If I could change one thing about the school it would be the immediate area around it. Trinity is fairly small but it makes it a cozy intimate school. I am constantly so proud to tell people I am a Trinity student.

Describe the students at your school.

Trinity is a fairly homogeneous student body and it has been said that minority students sometimes feel out of place. The main type of student found at Trinity is a white, preppy, upper class student who is found at one of the many fraternity parties offered on the weekends. Most students dress up to go to class, which is something that is often criticized by other students at Trinity who do not fit into this preppy category. Different groups of students typically do not interact much. At the dining hall, the tables are extremely segregated mostly based on race and socio-economic status.

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

Trinity is a great school and the best things about it are its urban environment offering great restaurants and cultural opportunities as well as a beautiful campus with a ton of school spirit.

Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

Yes, for the most part it is true but it is definitely not the entire student body that fits into this category

What are the academics like at your school?

The professors are awesome and almost always know their students by name. Students study quite a bit and have the perfect work hard play hard balance. At exam and midterm time, the library is filled with students but most of these students will socialize and hang out with their friends to relax and have fun after their work is over. As an econ major, I have had numerous wonderful professors who sincerely care that their students do well and learn a lot. Professors are required to hold office hours during the week so that their students can receive extra help if need be. This creates a very friendly environment with professors. In addition, professors often take their students out for dinner or have them over to their house for tea etc.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

The fraternaties are basically where most of the weekend social life takes place. Sporting events are also very popular namely the football games and squash matches. If you are awake at 2am ona tuesday you are either at the campus bar hanging with friends, or doing work at the library. Hartford offers amazing restaurants and fun bars - fun alternatives to the on campus social life

The main steroteypes about Trinity are that it is a bunch of white, preppy, waspy, upper class, spoiled students who like to party a lot.

Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

Somewhat, Trinity students do tend to be preppy and party animals but most of them are not so snobby except for a select few.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

The one thing I would change about Trinity is to make the student body more socially aware and active. The campus is rather apathetic about lots of things - politics, social causes, controversies/issues that come up on campus, etc. For example, recently safety on campus has become a raised issue in light of an unfortunate sexual assault on one of our main streets. There was a student forum held by the SGA in which Deans, campus safety representatives, and other faculty would be present. About 40 people showed up and most left before the end of the forum. In regards to an issue that affects every single person on this campus, a sadly small percentage of students made the effort to attend this forum. In general, the student body seems to only put time into things that will benefit themselves.

Describe the students at your school.

The student body is pretty segregated. Students involved in Greek life tend to stick together, as do athletes, multicultural groups, and then smaller social groups. The divides within the student body are a main complaint of the Trinity social environment, and much of the blame is put on the presence of fraternities and sororities on campus (although I do not believe this is the only factor, it does play a role because I know of many students who feel uncomfortable approaching fraternity houses on a weekend night). In general, most students are wealthy, which is not surprising given Trinity's tuitition, and lots of students seem to have a goal of having personal wealth after their college years. Thus, students work hard and many have internships or campus jobs that will help them reach this goal.

Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

This is not indicative of the entire student body, but it represents a fairly large percentage of it. I find that most of the people who fit these stereotypes are involved in Greek life.

What are the academics like at your school?

I have had a wonderful academic experience at Trinity. I am a part of a small major, so I've had the unique opportunity to form close relationships with several professors. In terms of the class environment, professors are for the most part engaging, and the students range from involved and vocal to detached and unenthused.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

There are many events on any given day at Trinity, which speaks to the large array of student interests. Some events are more well-attended than others, but in general those events that are well advertised will have a good amount of students at them. Drinking and partying is a huge part of the campus culture. Most students, whether they are going to fraternities or not, are binge drinking, which seems completely normal to most students. We have a repuatation for having a very good time.

What is the stereotype of students at your school?

Some stereotypes are that Trinity is a campus full of wealthy, stuck-up, conservative, ultra preppy students who come to Trinity to party and study hard.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

There is not much to do outside of trinity, we do have a mall and a couple of great restaurants, but i usually never go off campus on the weekends in terms of bars, etc. I love trinity and basically everyone here does too. Everyone just wants to have fun but we all also take our work seriously. The second it is nice out the majority of the school will be drinking on the quad or attending sporting events. The biggest controversy on campus is the recent sexual assault...but you just need to be careful - there is no reason why that girl should have been by herself at 4am. You just cant be stupid and you should be fine.

Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

no, there are actually alot of diverse individuals on campus

What are the academics like at your school?

The classes are small which is nice, most teachers are available to give extra help during their office hours. I sometimes have a hard time finding classes to fill my schedule outside of my major.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

My social life is all about the greek life...i am in a sorority so we have events then every weekend there is beer and latenight dancing at the frats...

What is your overall opinion of this school?

People often criticize Trinity for lacking diversity. Although I agree that the school would benefit from a wider span of ethnic diversity, I pride the school for accepting students who uphold a similar moral basis of values. Besides the occasional violence on campus and the lack in diversity amongst the student body, Trinity is a wonderful institution both academically and socially.

Describe the students at your school.

Although it is fair to say that there is little ethnic diversity on campus, I do not think this affects who befriends whom. At Trinity, students become friends with those who they meet through dorm life, classes, social activities, extracurriculars, etc. For me, although I am in a sorority, I do not restrict my social network to just students within the Greek system. I have friends who participate in a wide array of activities and interests throughout campus. Generally speaking, the majority of Trinity's student body are affluent caucasians from the New England area.

Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

To some extent, yes. The foundations of the stereotypes are true, but they are built upon to make seem worse than they are in reality.

What are the academics like at your school?

The professors at Trinity are informative, interesting, and demanding, yet understanding of any personal hardships that may arise for the student. Having smaller classes helps to improve the quality of education within the classroom and the individual's personal relationship with the professor. I have thoroughly enjoyed the majority of my classes.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Social life lies completely in the hands of the Greek organizations on campus. Hardly anybody will go into Downtown Hartford to party.

What is the stereotype of students at your school?

That there is little diversity on campus, that it is an affluent, beautiful, "preppy" white majority on campus. It is known as a party school, in which cocaine is popular.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

The disappointing part about Trinity is that lack of a surrounding college town. If you want to get off campus, walking is not the best idea and it is best to have a car or a friend with a car. There are about two things that are in walking distance from campus which, unfortunately, can be quite the turn off. On the other hand, if you do have a means of transportation, there are some great things to see and some amazing restaurants to be found in Hartford and the surrounding areas. Coming from Los Angeles, I'm accustomed to delicious, cool restaurants and when I visited Trinity for the first time, I was quite skeptical of finding anything decent to eat. However, with a little exploring, one can discover the gems of Hartford's less than great areas. You can find almost any cuisine whether it be expensive or not. Such restaurants are also a great way to get off campus when you feel like you need some air or to escape from the so called "Trinity bubble". It is almost a breath of fresh air when you leave campus every once in a while. Most of the time, however, Trinity consumes you and leaving campus can be dissatisfying because one undoubtedly has a great experience and Trinity. Such a great experience is easy to come by mostly because of the people here. When I think about the students at Trinity I realize that everyone works just as hard as they play. This is especially true when the weather permits and students can be found outside playing or watching a sports game or even lounging on a towel on the quad. The students at Trinity are overall a group of people who loves to have fun and include everyone.

Describe the students at your school.

One of the things I love most about Trinity is the fact that everyone makes an effort to put themselves together everyday and make the effort to look nice. That may be a superficial view but it's true. Most of the time, people here get somewhat dressed up to go out at night which I believe is a true characteristic of the student body. There is a wide range of people to be found here and one can meet all different kinds of people. Another characteristic of Trinity is that you can often tell which students play sports and which don't. A lot of the time, athletes can be found spending time with each other and really forming a tight knit group of people.

Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

Most stereotypes one hears are true when it comes to the students who attend Trinity. There is definitely a large handful of handsome guys at Trinity, especially on the athletic teams. As for the way people dress, many of the girls tend to look alike. A lot of the girls can be found carrying the same bag or wearing the same raincoat or winter jacket. Individual style is quite uncommon at Trinity and it seems as though everyone must shop at the same store because even the guys dress identically. The one stereotype that rang untrue was making friends and being accepted into new groups of people. I found it quite easy to make friends and that for the most part, everyone was welcoming and also looking to broaden their groups of friends.

What are the academics like at your school?

Academics are a great part of Trinity. The classes are challenging but they don't rule your life nor do they take up every moment of your time. I look at Trinity as having the intelligence level of an ivy league school but not taking academics quite so seriously. As students here at Trinity, we chose to came here to be intellectually challenged but to have a great time while we do so. The professors here are interesting and for the most part, they actually make you want to attend class. Whether you're in a lecture-based class or a more interactive class, the material is worth your while and very engaging. There is a huge selection of courses and Trinity gives their students a significant amount of freedom in choosing classes.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

I met my closest friends due to my sorority. I never thought in my entire life that I would ever join a sorority but once I did, I couldn't have been happier. It was the best way to meet a new group of girls and to really bond with them. Greek life is not the most important thing here but it does rule a lot of the night life. The fraternities are open on weekend nights and are a great place to dance. Every aspect of Trinity is pretty much a part of social life and no matter what you find yourself doing, you will find someone who is interested in doing the same thing.

What is the stereotype of students at your school?

The stereotypes of Trinity and its students seem to be pretty obvious. Coming from the west coast and a not particularly preppy school, I think the stereotypes were exaggerated. The first one I heard about Trinity was actually how cute the boys were. Every time I brought up the fact that I was going to Trinity, people would tell me that they had some of the best looking guys. I also heard that everyone dressed the same which proves true most of the time. I heard that Trinity was almost an extension of the boarding schools that students attended in high school as well and that it was hard to break into the groups of people that were already friends from high school.

great environment, something for everyone. Small and tight knit community, where students are actively involved in many different activities around campus.

more diverse than one would think... Majority of students are from New York and New England, but many students are from the south, mid-atlantic, minnesota and california

What are the academics like at your school?

professors really care about the students, very active in student life. Workload is certainly extensive, and work is hard but very rewarding.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

lots to do on campus-- greek life, cafe with poetry readings and music every weekend, active cultural houses, campus-wide organized activities

What is your overall opinion of this school?

For those who didn't get into Williams, or didn't want to be stuck in the Middlebury woods or way up in Maine... It's the best work hard play hard liberal arts school in the Northeast. The campus is beautiful as are the girls, the greek life is still strong, there is always something to do at night, and you can still leverage the academic street cred when applying for a job.

Describe the students at your school.

It can be diverse, or it could be sterotypically conforming...it all depends on who you hang out with... In general, groups tend to consist of the same kinds of kids...be it race, athletes, greek org, math club, etc.

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

If the Greek life gets shut down, you might as well close the school!

What are the academics like at your school?

There's a bit of everything: Small classes, large classes, ok professors, great professors, lots of homework, easy workloads, challenging, easy, etc. Some students want to learn, and some that just want to party, some get good grades, and then some get good jobs.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

It has the best social life of the nescac schools, but it gets worse every year as the administartion is forced to make new rules to make lawyers, parents, or Hartford happy. There is very little to do if you don't drink, so if the school forces minors to drink in their dorm rooms, so be it.

What is the stereotype of students at your school?

Preppy Work hard play hard Trust fund babies Rich kids that weren't smart enough for Ivy league

What is your overall opinion of this school?

The best thing about Trinity is definitely the Spring. On a nice day, everyone is outside grilling, playing sports and hanging out in the quad. If I could change anything about Trinity it would be the food and the parking situation. I also think that Trinity should really consider gating Campus. They have done a lot to protect the students, but it seems that people from outside of Trinity can easily walk on Campus and I do not feel safe at night. I think the size is just right, I like recognizing people everywhere I go, but I still feel like I am constantly meeting new people. I think I would feel lost in a big school. I spend most of my time in the Library, gym and my dorm. On nice days, most of my time is spent outsidedoing my work or hanging out. West Hartford has a lot of options, but its 10 min away by car. Therefore, I dont ever leave campus unless I drive somewhere. The surrounding city is not the greatest area. The last biggest controversy was a sexual assault on campus. For a D3 school, Trinity's students have a lot of school pride. On home game days, especially on a nice day, everyone is outside supporting and socializing.

Describe the students at your school.

Racial tensions at Trinity are especially high, which I think is mostly due to the way issues are exggerated. I feel that the african american community on campus bands together based on the fact that they think Trinity is full of "white rich kids." By doing this, they discriminate against themselves because, from my experience, Trinity is very accepting of all kinds of people. I think that people can either socialize with people based on the fact that their differences are the same, or they can just allow everyone, no matter who they are, to be their friend. Most Trinity students seem to be from an east-coast boarding-school. And if you ask just about anyone on campus where they are from, the response will be "twenty min outside Boston." In the dining hall, there's ALWAYS the guy's crew table, with the most people and then a table of kids from Boston who love Boston. A large group of really loud girls who are always laughing. The squash players, from around the world, always sit at the same two tables together. There's usually a football table, where most of the food the dining hall makes can be found. There's usually a table of African-American's and then the rest of the tables are mixed groups of friends and the few who dare to sit alone. Guys more so than girls often discuss finance and "what's going on in the market" I feel like the majority of them will end up on Wall Street. The girls are competitive with eachother and while many of them are driven, the majority of them will probably end up being hot soccer mom's who drive suburbans and have rich husbands. I feel that everyone out of Trinity will end up with a successful job in either New York or Boston. I do not feel like students are very politcally active or aware.

Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

To a certain extent, the stereotypes are true. When you walk around campus there are so many good-looking people, but I think that most of what trinity has is overlooked because everyone is so hung up on the stereotypes.

What are the academics like at your school?

The classes are small and I feel like all my professors recognize me inside and out of the classroom. The library is always very full- sometimes it becomes a social scene. One time last year during reading week before finals, my friend went to the library with no books, just to hang out with everyone in there that was studying. Class particiation is factored into your final average in most classes, so class participation is very common. In a lot of classes, teachers will often randomly call on students, therefore forcing the students to stay caught up on the material. I am double majoring in Economics and Art History, both my advisors and all the teachers in both departments are very helpful and I love all my classes. I think that Trinity's academic requirements are well rounded. My Freshman year I took classes ranging from Religions of Africa to Neuroscience, before I chose to double Major in Art History and Economics.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Although Trinity has a comparatively small Greek like than those of other schools, the Fraternity's and Sorority's definitely control the social scene. I am in a Sorority- Kappa Kappa Gamma, and I absolutly love it. Whether you are in a frat or sorority, everyone knows how to have a good time. I've visited my friends at all different colleges, and my friends who have come to visit Trinity all agree that Trinity is the most fun school. Athletic events are popular and Theatrical and Guest speaking events, while attended, are not highyl advertised so people aren't always informed about whats going on on campus. People date when they are in a relationship. People hook up when they like eachother. The typical way to meet a guy is to dance with him at late night and go home with him.

What is the stereotype of students at your school?

That Trinity is full of beautiful rich "waspy" kids from boarding-school who spend their parent's money. No diversity. Lots of coke.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Trinity is the place where students work hard, and play harder. Students here are very involved in their academics, but also know how to have fun on the weekends-- which typically start on a thursday. The best thing about Trinity is the spring, specifically spring weekend.

Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

Although some aspects of these stereotypes are true, from my experiences at Trinity this does not describe the school as a whole. Yes, the majority of students on campus are white and from the New England area, but there are also many people who are from DC, NY, and California.

What are the academics like at your school?

The education at Trinity is geared toward learning for its own sake. Class sizes vary from lectures of 50 people to small intimate classes of 10-15. Every freshmen takes a first year seminar.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

If you're awake at 2am on a Tuesday, you are probably leaving either The Tap or Sidewalk Cafe on your way to the fraternity AD.

What is the stereotype of students at your school?

The stereotypical Trinity student is from New England, white, attended prep/boarding school, and is extremely wealthy.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Trinity is a little small, you get to know most people freshman year. This can be both a good and a bad thing. The professors are amazing, and the social life is awesome. There's very little diversity. The surrounding area sucks, but sometimes you forget that it's a city.

Describe the students at your school.

There is very little diversity of any kind. Most people are rich white kids from New England. Large politically conservative population. Very few students are politically active.

What are the academics like at your school?

Professors all know you buy name, they are very involved and helpful. Students study a lot, the library is always busy. It isn't a very competative atmosphere, but I have found that a lot of the students are surprisingly smart.

What are the most popular student activities/groups?

Greek life runs the campus social scene. People party hard thursday, friday, saturday and sometimes tuesday. People randomly hook up more than they date. There's a lot of heavy drinking and casual drug use.

What is the stereotype of students at your school?

That only rich, preppy, white kids go here. That everyone is beautiful and stuck-up.
