Trinity College Top Questions

The professors here are fantastic. That alone would have convinced me much more quickly that this was the correct choice for my undergraduate career.

I wish that I would have realized how fortunate I was to be accepted here. Not only will I receive a prestigious education, but I will get to play tennis and be an NCAA athlete! I wish that I could have told other prospective college applicants about the benefits of attending a liberal arts college, because quite frankly, a public university often does not compare to the small class sizes and open-ended curriculum. I am thrilled with the opportunity that awaits me, and I will do my very best to work as hard as I can!

I wish I knew that so much of the social scene revolved around alcohol and that the "typical" Trinity student went to boarding school.

I wish I had known that it was ok not to be certain on what I wanted to major in. I think many freshmen often feel somewhat pressured to go into college already knowing what they want to do with their lives. Trinity is an ideal college for the "undecided student." You do not need to declare a major until the end of your sophomore year. Take classes that sound interesting to you -- it's the perfect time to try new things and build your knowledge on subjects you enjoy!

How wealthy the general student body was.

I wish I had known how small of a community Trinity is. In some ways, this is a good thing as I honestly feel as if I'm in a large extended family when I go here. At the same time, it can be tiring to see everyone every single day. Hartford can also be problematic as the city is very dangerous and I'm not being dramatic here either - I come from a major urban center in the US and I feel very unsafe at times. Use caution when you're out and about and you'll be fine.

How much of a lack of diversity there really was, and how the large contigency of boarding school kids creates the social atmosphere (lots of drinking, drugs, etc.) There isn't a lot of tolerance for diversity or difference of opinions (in my opinion) and I would have liked to go to a school that was more liberal and open-minded, at least within the student body.
