Though Greeks compose 20{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of the student body population, they tend to dominate the social scene. Athletic events such as men's football, lacrosse and ice hockey games are very well attended. Trinity constantly offers impressive lectures for a seemingly infinite array of issues. Trinity offers such institutions as the "Fred" as an alternative to the Greek scene.

tory

most of the nightlife at trinity revolves around the frats at night. only abour 25{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of students are in frats, but all students can go to the "late night" parties, when the frats open up around midnight to about 3:00. there are parties that the frats and sororities have that are invite only too. there is a bar right off campus that is really popular on tuesdays and thursdays. thats really only for seniors and juniors who are 21. before youre 21 the social scene involves hanging out in dorm rooms and then going to late night usually. there are a lot of lecture opportunities on campus. there is an on campus movie theatre too. im not really sure what you would do on a saturday if you weren't drinking. most activities take place on campus but some times we go downtown to bars. i wish we went downtown more

Katie

Kappa is a great social organization.

Liz

The most popular social scene is going to the frats. People go out Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I would say Thursday and Saturday are the best nights out at Trinity.

Ashton

Need a bar or pub on campus... alcohol is getting too strict on campus kids end up leaving and going downtown then they drive back.. Very stupid on Trinity's part. Not keeping the students safe. Dont feel safe because our school is an open campus.

Kristina

All Greek organizations are very popular. A huge percent of the student body are athletes as well. People are also generally involved with community service activities. Personally, I am friends with a lot of people in the Greek community and who are athletes because am both a Sororiaty sister and a member of a team. People party at trinity 3 days a weekend Thursday Friday Saturday. Thursday and Saturday are the biggest nights. People also go out casually on Tuesdays, normally to a bar. Thursday and Saturdays are big Frat party nights.

Charlie

Greek life is very popular but sometimes takes over the social scene and gets old quickly.

alyce

athletic events are really popular-showing a great deal of stduent pride. fraternities are also really popular.

Casey

I am most involved with Greek life and this is how I have expanded my network. I cannot say enough good things about Greek life at Trinity. It gets people involved and gives them a good support system.

maggie

There are a lot of opportunities to attend a various range of events, be it entertainment or intellectual. Some are well attended many others not. People party often and hard.

Allison

Social life is very fun at Trinity. While Fraternities and Sororities do dominate the social scene, there are plenty of other options for people who don't drink or don't enjoy Fraternities.

Andy

There are all kinds of groups on campus, ranging from the newspaper to the photo club, the bio club, the medical student group, the newspaper, the fencing club...there are a million of them. I love bio club. You go in to a room and find 15 people who love biology joking about things that have nothing to do with it. I have a great time. No one talks about bio. Athletic events bring students, but many more people go to guest speakers, seminars, theater, and so on. If I'm up at 2am on a Tuesday, which I am, I'm doing homework or procrastinating it. The biggest events every year are Homecoming and Spring Weekend. People party Thursday-Saturday. I don't go out Thursday because I have an early class on Friday, but it happens all the times. Frats don't control the social life, but they are kind of the epicenter of it. You can have a great party in your room, but if you want to go out and dance or get laid or whatever, you go to the frats. I tend to go off campus only for a movie, for shopping, or to go home. There's plenty to do on campus. There is stuff to do on Saturday night that doesn't involve drinking, but I don't know what it is. I'm drunk! I have friends who don't drink, and they seem to do fine.

Ali

Trinity social life is mainly the Greek organizations on campus. On the weekends, the nightly activity is normally going to the fraternities and partying there. People do go to athletic events on campus especially when the weather is nice in the springtime. I hate to say it but if you're not drinking on the weekends, there's not much else you can do since the surrounding city of Hartford doesn't offer many safe weekend sober venues.

Antonia

frats are way important. even though only a small percentage actually pledge, most of the social life here goes on on Vernon St which essentially a line of frats.

Payden

singing groups sprots teams. field hockey rock climbinb toutering sometines not popular unless its a big game, guest speakers depends, theater depends idk in my dorm, on my team studying, cramming spring weekend, family weekend, homecomming 2-4 times a week important some weekends drank- went to a foam party idk touter refugees

Laura

Students in dorms don't leave their dorms open. I am involved in Kappa Kappa Gamma, which is a sorority here on campus. Athletic events are very popular, especially the Trinity Football games and squash matches. If I'm awake at 2 am on a Tuesday, I'm either studying for an exam or out at AD.

Sam

Fraternities rule the school. I don't really necessairly have a problem with that at all actually. There are many organizations on campus that offer events all nights of the week, including weekends that provide alcohol free activities. Students just have to find them. Students are lazy. They were so used to their high school where they knew everything and everyone, and now they have to start over. Most students don't remember freshman year of high school, when they walked around and were forced to start new activities and meet new people. They need to do that in college too, and people forget that

Jessica

the most popular organization on campis is the fraternaties. i am not involved in any groups here. no one leaves their door open in the dorms. athletic events are very unpopular. guest speakers ramble and the theater plays nonsense. people hook up with each other and share gonorea...romantic. i have only 3 close friends here. one was in my seminar--which i hated. one is his roomate and all three live in my dorm. at 2 i am trying to sleep but my roomate is talking on the phone and playing computer games with the lamp on. people party everyday. i go home almost every weekend because i cant stand it here. the only thing you can do on a saturday night is sit in your room or go to a movie by yourself because everyone else is drinking. i cant go off campus because i dont have a car.

Jackie

The big problem at Trinity is that the main people who throw parties are the frateritnies. There's also a huge drinking culture on campus, so it can be very hard to find people who don't drink. That being said, there are there if you look for them. For example, the Fred aims to be a social space without alcohol.

Lindsey

A large amount of Trinity students are involved in many different organizations on campus. There are intramural sports, club teams, fraternities, sororities, religious groups, and many others. Athletic events are pretty popular especially when the weather is nice and people want to hang out outside. Students at Trinity stay up pretty late most nights of the week, but sometimes it's nice to go to bed early. You can find people going out any night of the week, but the most popular nights to go out are Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Most people hang out in their dorm rooms or at students' apartments off campus and then go to a fraternity or sorority. Students also go to the few bars around Trinity's campus in Hartford.

Stephanie

Good social scene. Mostly on campus activities. Lots of drinking, generally go out 3 to 4 nights a week.

Brittany

Trinity is a very athletic school so many people are involved in either varsity sports or club teams. I am not on a sports team, but I do go often to the games and am a big supporter. I have been involved in the Student Alumni Ambassador group where we meet with alumni and encourage them to give back to the school. Most people go out on both friday and sat nights and like to have fun. And fraternities control the social scene.

Kelly

there is a lot of emphasis on sports teams and greek life. The freshman year program is good for meeting people because you live with the people in your freshman year seminar. People go out on Tuesdays, Thursdays and the weekend nights. There is a lot of emphasis on drinking. Most things happen on campus.

Katherine

KAPPA

Lindsey

I love the Trinity social life. I have met my best friends here. I am in a sorority and I thought it really helped me branch out and get to know girls that I otherwise would not have got to know. We go out to dinner alot, but drinking is a big part of life here, and I can't think of many people that mind that.

Kendall

Athletic events are most popular in the spring, when the weather is nice. The frat scene is not all important, but it does tend to focus the social events for the weekends. Only 10 {4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of the student body participates, so it is not the only activity on campus.

julia

the greek system, in my opinion, is a great part of trinity. there are about 6 fraternities and 2 sororities. freshman year most people hang out with the other freshman in their dorms, and then sophomore year they tend to branch out a little more. people pledge frats/soroities sophomore year. i am in kappa, which has been one of the best experiences. when frats/sororities have a party, they are usually ticket parties, so you need to know someone in the organization to get in. there are other options for things to do if you dont want to go to frats though, i just dont know what they are! off campus there is a good downtown hartford area with some fun bars and really great restaurants but its about a 5 minute drive.

jenny

Greek life is very dominant on campus, as well as athletic teams. I think the reason Greek life places such a large part in the social aspect of Trinity life, is because of the lack of other social activities available off campus. For instance, I know many students are scepticle about their safety venturing off to bars or concerts in Hartford, when students are being assaulted on campus, a place that is supposed to be seen a protective.

Sarah

Most students do not leave there doors to their dorm rooms open. My friends and I who live near each other know each others codes to one anothers room but almost never see random doors open. I met my closest friends through trying out for sports and other organizations. The dating scene is not typical dating. It is more short term than long term relationships. People party very frequently and fraternities are a huge part of the social scene. On a saturday night you could go to a movie if you did not want to drink.

Jesse

greek organizations, sports teams, and freshman dorms are the three place most peopel have their friends from. Squash games are the most popular. football is attended but its not as much as squash. Its a study hard party hard environment.

Rachel

The student body is mostly moderate/conservative that dominates over other racial, religious and LGBT groups on campus. Maybe its due to the groups I am involved in, but I don't feel that other social houses on campus have a major role. The Greek Life seems to overwhelm Vernon street on the weekends and I rarely hear about other events occurring in the other house

Ashley

i would love it if there were places that we could go off campus to party, but there are very few options within walking distance, and that number keeps getting smaller. so that leaves students to party on campus, which ends up creating controversy among students in different social circles (people who want to go out versus people who don't who get fed up with the noise and the party mentality).

Katie

I think the most popular places on campus are the fraternities because they provide the social life. I am a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. It is a lot of fun, it is a great group of girls, we really enjoy helping others while being together, and there are so many oppertunities for us to connect with other people on campus. People at Trinity don't really seem to date, and if they do than they are usually upper classmen. If I am awake on at 2 am on a Tuesday I would be doing work. People party thursday through saturday, and occasionally on Tuesday. There is not a lot to do on a saturday that doesn't involve drinking.

Lorie

There is an activity for Trinity student who wants one; it is simply a matter of looking for the right one. I love the small-school atmosphere that is particularly evident at athletic games and matches. For instance, the squash matches seem to draw just about everyone from whatever they are doing at least once while at Trinity. Whether you know the person standing next to you at not, you're all jumping around and cheering on our classmates. Nightlife is not dictated by Greek life. Whether you're part of it or not, there is something to do. Greek organizations, however, have the facilities to offer larger-scale events on a more regular basis.

Margot

Anything you could want. I've mostly been involved with Community Service and am constantly wishing there were more hours in the day to participate in all of the programs offered. Trinity has great athletics and the athletes aren't isolated from the rest of the student body at all. You can party as much or as moderately as you want. Thursday, Friday, Saturday are the biggest nights of the weekend but Tuesdays are pretty popular as well, and if you don't have class the next day and want to drink on a Sunday, Monday, or Wednesday you probably won't have trouble finding someone to drink with. Fraternities primarily provide the weekend social life but there are smaller gatherings everywhere on campus. Dating isn't as common as other places, but that isn't to say there aren't a lot of couples.

Emily

The fraternaties are basically where most of the weekend social life takes place. Sporting events are also very popular namely the football games and squash matches. If you are awake at 2am ona tuesday you are either at the campus bar hanging with friends, or doing work at the library. Hartford offers amazing restaurants and fun bars - fun alternatives to the on campus social life

Trinity

Even though social life is generally revolved around the fraternities, and I think there should be more options for students, I have found that it is very easy to get involved in social life on campus. There is always a dance, a cappella concert, or party to go to, film screenings, etc. Even though students will usually be drinking at a majority of these events, it is possible to find something not involving alcohol.

Kelly

The best group I've ever been involved with at Trinity is the Fred Pfeil Community Project. Founded by a group of students two years ago, The Fred is a 60-person dorm created to allow students to have more control over their social lives and to live in an open-minded community. We plan and throw events every Friday, from hip hop shows to hosting bands like The Feverfew to Wii sports tournaments to coffee house open mics. We also all belong to common interest groups that meet once a week. We have a big common room full of couches on the first floor where other groups frequently hold events, too. The Fred has totally changed my experience at Trinity. The school gives us the funding to put on our events and we can make pretty much anything happen. And it's great to live in a dorm where people always have their doors open and are happy to chat. This sort of community is indicative of the way Trinity empowers its students to put their ideas into practice and run with them.

Jake

Most frequented social events are the fraternaties. The Fred also has Friday night events which are different than the usual get drunk frat experience. Its pretty fun regardless of where you go, really it depends on your mood. If your looking for a wild time go to the fraternaties, if you looking for a more laid back place to hang out, maybe listen to a band or watch a comedian, the Fred is the place to be.

Cindy

dorm students leave their doors open unless they dont want to talk to anyone awake on a tuesday at 2 am, hanging out wiht friends in room or hall traditions: homecoming, tropical, spring weekend people party at least 3 nights a week frats are the primary place to end up on a weekend night usually drink in rooms then go to frats- many theme parties that you need tickets for so its hard to get in if youre a guy or unattractive girl

Mark

Frats. My group consists of a lot of baseball players. Doors are mainly closed, but u can knock and people will welcome u in often. Athletic events are not that popular unless you have friends in them. guest speakers are common, but ive only attended them when extra credit is an option. Dating scene is very prevalent. I met my closest friends in my dorm. At 2am on a tuesday i'm either watching LOST or studying. Traditions include graduation, lemon squeezer, several frat parties (tropical, homecoming, etc). People party about twice a week (Thursday & Saturday). Last weekend i was home for spring break. The Fred is non-alcoholic. I don't do anything off campus, freshmen arn't allowed to have cars and I wouldn't dare take public transportation with the locals.

Jordan

Fraternities and sororities rule night life. The most popular organizations on campus are sports affiliated or greek life. Often people are described according to these two fundamental aspects. The dating scene is like most college dating scenes, random hook ups, some serious relationships, but very few certified "dates" take place. Homecoming and Spring Weekend are two awesome events that are not missed by anyone on campus. People typically party Thurs-Sun (sometimes Tues) but it is not mandatory. I go out once or twice a week and still feel very much involved in the social scene.

Carver

The Greek Organizations definitely are the major players in the social life. That having been said the college is constantly searching for new venues where students can socialize on weekends. All student doors are on springs that close them automatically, so they are usually closed.

anne

Greek life definately plays the biggest role on campus. I am currently the co-chair of Green Campus, the environmental group on campus, which focuses on recyling and energy consumption here at Trinity, both of which students are not very aware of and the adminstration is not willing to lend a huge hand to. Students leave their dorms open. Athletic events get an okay showing, as well as guest speakers, and less than theater events. There is no dating scene. It is generally one night stands/date rape. I met my closest friends in my dorm. Usually at 2 am on a tuesday i am doing homework or talking with friends. Major events on campus are homecoming and spring weekend, which are usually just huge instances of debachery. Fraternitites and Sororities are HUGE but extremely exclusive. Last weekend I went to a concert at my dorm and then hung out in my friends room with the band. There isn't anything to do on a Saturday night that doesn't involve drinking. Off campus, I eat, go for walks or runs, work with hartford youth.

Jen

Lots of people do sports here. But there are tons of other organizations like: zeta omega eta- feminist sorority FU- feminists united Green campus MOCA- men of color alliance Phab- body image awareness women's center action resource center Eros- lgbtqi group temple of hip hop stop the raids- immigration rights group connpirg etc. the dorms are pretty secure- a lot of people in my class live off campus- but this is not the norm the theater program is visible but not the best, i hear athletic events are fairly popular- we have our own ice rink the dating scene is more of a hook-up culture- frats and sororities are the social spaces.but we are working to change this by creating alternative places on campus for social life to thrive. there are lots of hip hop shows, guest speakers, sex talks, live music, poetry, spoken word, etc. there are events off campus as well as great bars and restaurants

Molly

Social life at Trinity is very active due to the plethora of campus organizations, ranging from A Capella groups to intramural sports teams to Greek life and much more. Athletics are popular, and while many of the teams do well each year, the main sporting attraction at Trinity is the squash team, who now holds the record of the longest winning streak (10 consecutive undefeated seasons) in the history of college sports. Trinity draws numerous guest speakers to campus every week and the lectures are often filled with students, some of whom are required to attend for relevant classes and others who are genuinely interested in the subject matter. The Theater department puts on several productions each semester, some that are student directed, and those are always well-advertised and draw in large crowds. Trinity is also the only small college with its own movie theater, called CineStudio, that shows both old and current feature films every week. On that note, students who don't like to engage in partying or Greek life, there is always that option for a weekend night. Besides that, Hartford is a wonderful resource for finding alterantives to the fraternity/sorority scene, with its many restaurants, bars, clubs, museums and movie theaters.
