It was very difficult to get enrolled but it's awesome once I am finally in. Due to Covid-19, there is not many activities but TMCC tried their best to get everyone involved. I am always updated about events on campus and truly enjoy my experience at this college.

As a commuter college, TMCC's environment is cultivated toward academic success while aiming to provide a variety of of quality student services . There are a plethora of students studying during daylight hours in the library , others hanging out in the halls between classes, and events are put on by the student government nearly every week each semester. Thus, the education is fueled by a great learning environment that the students enjoy before travelling home. The professors are dedicated to making sure students do well and understand course material, being available outside of class in their offices or via email. Adding to the resources that teachers provide are the number of free services students can utilize. Academic advisement, disability resources, counseling services, financial literacy training—all these things and more are made available to students, making it easier to navigate the college scene. Overall, I am very pleased with TMCC. It was an affordable option that didn't cut back on the things students need the most, and has been time well spent.

Truckee Meadows is a nice decent size school. It has a very safe and friendly feel to it and I've never felt left out. There are some things that make going to TMCC tedious. It seems like most students have issues when they are applying for the school and signing up for classes. seems like something in the system that just makes the whole process even more stressful then it already is. I haven't started a semester there yet and I've already had to go many many many times to fix issues that shouldn't even be an issue in the first place.

Angel

Overall I am happy with my decision to attend TMCC. Many of my instructors have previously taught or are also professors at UNR. Furthermore, as an non-traditional student there have been plenty of classes available online or after 5 p.m. which has been essential to my success and ability to maintain a job and attend school. The student population is diverse which contributes to creative and multifaceted interactions while in class. The number of parking spots at TMCC has increased, which is an improvement. The east lot is a bit far from where classes are held. This can lead to increased theft or safety concerns. I have heard rumors that transfers from TMCC to UNR go poorly for some students but the few people I personally know that have transferred had no issues with transferring.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

If I could go back and talk to myself as a high school senior, I would say do not wait 15 years to go to college! You can do it and their are people their who want to help you suceed. You can follow your dreams and surpass them, no one is stopping you except for yourself. You will have the help you need just put your faith in the system and ask for help when you need it. You are smarter than you think you are and you will enjoy learning more than you ever could have imagined. Its not high school, high school is childish and pety in college you can become what you want to be no worrying about the "cool kids" its all about you!

  3. What's unique about your campus?

Truckee Meadows for me is a booster school its helping me getting down all my core classes and is helping prepare me for bigger things. The best thing is I?m getting my associates degree for a lot less money and its helping me transfer to the University of Nevada Reno. Without this community college I probably wouldn?t have been able to afford college all together. It?s help minimize the loans I?ve needed to take out and given me a broader education.

  4. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

What I don't like about TMCC is the way some of the receptionist's help or try and answer your questions. They would, sometimes, not let you finish asking your question before they answer. There are times when you ask for something specific then they answer it differently, then they don't always do everything in thier power to try and help you figure things out. these are the things I dont like about TMCC.

  6. What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I did quite a bit of research about this particular school as well as the program I was hoping to persue before I enrolled. I adapted quickly to the Community College setting (I had attended a major University for two years) so that was not something I felt unprepared for. I guess the only thing I really wish I could have known before enrolling is whether or not I am going to be accepted to the Radiology program this fall, I am very anxious to find out.

  7. What kind of person should not attend this school?

I'm not sure who shouldn't attend the college. The reason's being its fairly reasonable moneywise, the classes are medium sized. You could blend in and be invisible but you would'nt be lost or forgotten by the teacher. Most of the proffesors are also very willing to help you in passing thier classes. There is a disabilities resource center to help with extra testing time and, a quiter testing room. There is also a free tutoring center for computers to spanish, and to study aswell.
