When I first started at Truman, I tried to stay away from extra-curricular activities and focus on classes I knew would earn me a lot of money down the road. Don't do that; calculus sucks. Take the classes that you're really interested in, from professors that you get along with. Work with organizations on campus to make connections and immerse yourself in the environment. Also, stay away from All You Can Drink at the Dukum; it's easy to lose an entire semester that way.
Prior to attending Truman University I had enrolled and attended another school. So, what I wish I would have known is that Truman State University existed. I discovered the campus through a friend. I left a school in Indiana and was blessed to get the opportunity to transfer. I wish I had known how much help would be offered to me. It would have saved me lots of time!
I was well prepared for my school and was not surprised by anything.
I wouldn't change a thing about my experiences my freshman year, even if only with prior knowledge.
Living at college is different, because your parents aren't around to tell you what to do and make sure you do it. So it makes things a lot harder, but a lot more fun. You really have to take responsibility for yourself and stay organized and clean.
Better time management skills.
That it was such a hardcore academic school.
I wish I had saved more money for college before I came to this school.
Many recruiters come from the St. Louis area so if you don't want to start out working in St. Louis, you may want to consider a different school.
The more involved you get on campus, the better experience you'll have! You don't have to go greek, there are other things to do (service organizations, volunteering, student activities board, student government, etc.). Also, invest in an umbrella and a good pair of rain boots - they won't be a waste of money.
I wish that I knew that business isn't a blow off major at Truman.
I wish I had known that it isn't such a bad idea to take a year off before going to college.
Adjusting to the workload was kind of tough. I would have studied harder freshmen year. It is alot easier to start high and slowly fall than to start low and climb your way up with regards to GPA. I lost alot of opportunities by doing that.
I wish I had known that I would not be able to write as creatively as I wish.
I wish that I had known more about off-campus life.
I wish I had known the school was very biased and even somewhat racist .
nothing, i feel like i was very well prepared for life here
