Nicole

I was able to double major in Biomedical Engineering and Women's Studies and graduate on time and the small friendly communities were extremely supportive.

Mel

Tufts is an overpriced, Harvard wanna-be. The teachers are nasty and they suck. All they care about is how much money your parents have.

Melody

It is basically an undiscovered gem amidst the hype surrounding Ivy-Leagues and other more well-known schools. The classes are small and the professors and advisors are as open and as available as you could ask for. Also, I can think of no other university who has an on-site, available dietician who is ready to discuss changes and additions that could be made to dining hall menus (I'm a strict vegetarian). Most importantly, Tufts is the most international school one will ever attend--there are at least 10 international kids on my floor.

Erik

At Tufts, the administration and faculty are incredibly responsive to the student body. The president is likely to respond to any issue or email sent by a student within minutes and students feel comfortable addressing him with any problem. The professors consider students partners in the search for greater knowledge as well as the application of this knowledge is a globally conscious way. Student opinion is constantly taken into account, whether in designing a new library or refining the menu in the dining halls. Tufts is a university with a global awareness, but never looses sight of the campus community.

Anne

It's difficult to narrow down just one thing about a school that makes one decide to attend. Most of the schools that I considered were of a similar size to Tufts and were roughly the same distance from my home, two qualities that I used to narrow down my search. However, Tufts has a GREAT science program, which was very important to me. There were other contributing factors -- the campus is quite lovely, and there is an all girls' dorm (there are also co-ed dorms if one prefers), but it was the science that really called to me.

Kristen

The theme of Tufts is "Let your life speak". When I was applying to colleges I couldn't help but feel as though only my g.p.a and SAT scores were considered. However, Tufts proved to me that those are only pieces of my puzzle. Tufts allows students to define themselves and offers students the opportunity to pursue what they are passionate about. Whether it's through painting the cannon, a Tufts tradition, participating in the ENVY, a female step team, or volunteering at a local elementary school, every student will find a place at Tufts.

Ker

its really liberal, more liberal than others, and the people are pretty friendly

Eugene

I felt that it has a very worldly focus compared to other colleges. Tufts is very environmentally aware, as well as politically active and a member in the international community. Tufts involves itself with the world, and this rubs off on the students.

Barb

My favorite part about Tufts is its size. You can usually always find someone you know, but there are always new people to meet. If you want to take larger classes you can, but if you don't want to, you don't have to. THere are so many resources on campus because it is a prestigious school and students have many opportunities to work on research alongside professors.

Mary

Tufts University has a very dynamic campus. I love the university's involvement with the surrounding community and active citizenship philosophy. I also love how the campus stresses strong academics, but also a positive and engaging social community.

Abigail

Come to Tufts if you are well rounded - you like going to the gym, dancing, studying, and partying... there is something for everyone here and most people do lots of things and aren't JUST violinists or athletes or students - they do it all!

Steven

We go out of our way to make sure that people are included and represented. We make noise for the minority and for the underdog no matter who/what that might be (people/ideas). Our largest campus group is our community service group. We give back, we care. Tufts is not student against student but students out to change the world.

Maayan

It has a strong focus on creating globaly active and aware students who are inspired to taketheir educations out of the classroom.

Timothy

It is very close to home and nearby Boston. I find the lifestyle in Boston and the surroudning suburbs unlike most of the country. Somerville, especially Davis Square, is unique in the country. Somerville is the most densely populated city in America, and so there are a lot of different kinds of people. They all converge in Davis Square, so you have a true mix of different kinds of people. The diversity of Davis Square transfers to Tufts and Tufts students really get a feel of a whole culture of people. It is truly an exciting culture to live in.

Nicolas

The EPIIC program is great for students seeking a rigorous exposure to a certain aspect of international relations. Each year, a colloquium of 40-50 students examine broad themes like oil and water, sovereignty and intervention, the US's role in the world. Had I known about this program while searching for colleges, Tufts would have been my first choice.

James

Tufts is actually pretty dope. I really could not see myself anywhere else. Some of the athletic facilities are pieces of garbage though like the pool or the weight room but there is a new pool scheduled to be finished in like 2015 or something and they are redoing the weight room. Our indoor track is really nice and the outdoor fields are pefect. There are also fields around campus that are great for going out to play a pickup game of football or throw a frisbee around or just lay out in the sun. Just remember, it's Boston. So bear with the accents and our crazy vocab like bubbler, or pronouncing Oregon like it's spelled Oregone. Plus Boston sports teams are just better than everyone else's. And I hate New York. Its worthless.

Harper

nope.

Harper

Come to Tuftsl! Despite its faults it is a wonderful school where you can learn and grow.

Sally

If I had to do it all over again would I chose Tufts? Not necessarily, but most of my friends absolutely love it. I think for me I probably would've rather been at an art school or a school slightly closer to home, but that's just me. In general, I think every school is really just a combination of what you make of it and luck in regards to who you meet and become friends with and what classes you take. I really feel it is the other students and the classes that can really make or break a school for a person.

julia

Housing is not the best. Dorms are random sized and junior/senior housing is not guaranteed, which can be a real problem junior year when about half of the student body goes abroad and everyone has to find housing.

Ben

tufts is the shit. i love it. you should come. end of story. QED

Matt

Despite the fact that I just shat all over Tufts, I am prepared to admit, you only get out what you put in. I know people who just stay in their room all day and play Halo 3. I also know people who are president of a couple of organizations. You will be who you want to become if you put the time into it. Do not be swayed by extremist groups. Notably, the Democrats. Sometimes the Republicans here have something to say as well. If you're going to be a freshman, be prepared to get made fun of. You're a newbie, and you know what Counter Strike does to noobies. They pwn them. Seriously though, my best friends are seniors that I met when I was a freshman. So get out there and get your feet wet!!

Renee

when you get to Tufts, be proactive: seek out people, find out what activities there are, and what opportunities you have to go places, get jobs, etc. And if you have a bad attitude because your class rank wasn't high enough to get you into Brown, we don't really want you here. :)

Eleanor

Being rejected from Harvard was the best thing that ever happened to me, becasue it meant that I chose Tufts.

Alex "The Pendulum"

If you want to go to college to smoke and drink and "go out", you won't be very happy here (though you'll have company.) If you instead want to study and graduate and don't mind the smoking and drinking on the side, you'll be fine. Also, the Naked Quad Run is a disgusting tradition and shames the school. It is a flagrant and encouraged abuse of underage drinking and indecent exposure, and of course, filmed by the townies. If you attend Tufts, please help replace it with something a little more rewarding.

Gregory

Get rid of the GRE requirement! ....What do they tell you...

Alexandra

Tufts ROCKS!

KC

As a biopsychology major, I found that the same brain classes taught in the biology department were much harder than those in the psychology department. Even though the material was the same, the professors in biology tend grade less favorably.

Andrew

Most people are happy here, the one's who aren't tend to transfer pretty quickly.

Will

Tufts is great in many respects. I love the academic first and foremost and that is the reason I chose to attend. But then again I am a "nose to the grindstone" kinda cat so that is what I was looking for. The cold is awful and the social scene needs a booster shot but if you want to go to a school where the international community feel is present and you can finally feel like you are making a difference now that your out of that silly high school waste-of-time, then this is the place to be. It is a lot of work and that is not joke, but there is a lot of partying going on at the frats to provide a counter balance if that is your bag.

Joshua

I am trying to avoid a litany of woe, because I really believe that Tufts is a world class institution. I do, however, have serious reservations about my time here. Many people regard college as their halcyon years and look back on their Alma Mater with nostalgic fondness. This is not my experience. Although I learned a lot during my tenure, I didn’t have enough fun. Only part of this can be ascribed to a failure of character. The university bears real responsibility for the happiness of its students. Unfortunately, Tufts has a long way to go in improving the non-curricular aspects of its campus life.

Brett

I love my school!

Kara

Tufts can be really intimidating for a lot of people: it feels like everyone is either pre-med, or an international relations major. If you go to Tufts, you're going to be surrounded by incredibly intelligent people. Most kids were in the top of their classes in high school, and it can be difficult to adjust to a school where everyone is smart. It's important to remember that you don't have a become a doctor or a lawyer to legitimize your education. Tufts puts a lot of emphasis on global citizenship and community responsibility: do something you love, do something that will improve the world, and you're doing alright.

Logan

Basically, if you are a highly ambitious student looking to make a difference in the world, come to Tufts. Tufts will give you the education, friends, and connections that you could ever want, and you will spend four years here being challenged and motivated. Tufts lacks the pretentious atmosphere that other colleges of its caliber tend to have, and it allows students to explore their educational desires and dreams in a comfortable and truly inspirational atmosphere!

andrew

Deciding to come to Tufts was the best decision of my life. I think the saddest day of the year was May 10, 3 days after my last final ended, when they finally kicked me out of my dorm and made me go home for the summer.

jen

I actually hate tufts. Aside from my few closest friends, I hate the people. Everyone thinks they are Gods gift to earth, and they walk, talk and act as if they are. Personal business gets spread all over campus in the blink of an eye. The social scene is horrible and professors dont care about a students personal progress. Professors in the science department are often only teaching because its a requirement for them to conduct their research, so they have alterior motives for teaching which is not the optimal environment for a student to thrive.

leila

College is a bubble of over privileged kids doing whatever they want (including learning). As obnoxious as that sounds - it's a lot of fun.

Julia

?

Skylar

Tufts colors are baby blue and brown. People tend not to like it at first but they eventually grow on you. Its HOT.

Dan

Tufts is the shit

Rory

Shit, I put all my thoughts in the Big Picture. Quote from me though Tufts offers opportunity to meet people from so many different ethnicities, it's not a melting pot, but a salad bowl (meaning the diversity is not intertwined). You have to be an independent go-getter with an inquisitive to make things happen. If not, then you'll be part of this homogenous clique.

Alex

sucks fuck em all

Hunter

LOVE TUFTS. Tufts is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I couldn't be more in love if I tried.

Alex

I applied to Tufts on a whim, simply because my mom told me so. I took a tour of the school for one hour. Tufts was not my first choice. Despite all of this, I am so incredibly glad I came here. I just finished my freshman year, and I can decisively say that I was very sad to leave for the summer -- not just the people but school itself. Tufts becomes your home after the first month. The campus is beautiful and if you're lucky, you'll meet really great people. I am not a school spirit sort of person, but I am so proud of my school. The college admissions was long, grueling, and expensive. Of all the tours I took, I think the most important statement I ever heard was that no matter what college you choose, you'll be happy eventually. This definitely isn't true for all cases, but I think for most people, you learn to love where you are.

Josh

NQR is awesome!

Ashley

i would love to transfer

Sarah

There is one thing I always say when I talk about Tufts students. It is so nice to be in an environment where everyone enjoys learning and enjoys working hard. It is so often that being smart is associated with being nerdy and not having a life. Tufts defies that. Everyone I know here is so intelligent yet so incredibly normal. They have great social lives, other passions and activities, and one hell of a brain.

Charlie

Dorms need improvement. Lewis is an absolute mess and catastrophe. I'm sure it violates health regulations.

Corey

The girls are ugly, it's depressing. There's talk of Tufts goggles, and when coupled with beer goggles, Tufts isn't the best looking school. But to be fair, the girls complain about the guys.

Maureen

Come to Tufts! It's a great school!
