The best University ever. While it is small and it doesn’t have that many students, that makes you feel more valued with the profesor because they know who you are. You feel safer in the premises and everybody knows each other so it’s a very friendly atmosphere.

The Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico has very limited resources, Campus Facilities are extremely outdated. The Library has like 10 study rooms and none have a TV for presentations (only two and they are for graduate students), there's a lot of wasted space in the campus that could be used for Study Areas or WorkSpaces, but they remain unused. The Library itself is uncomfortable and seems to not have a renovation since the 1980s and there are two working printers that don't print double-sided. The Classrooms have an extremely uncomfortable set up for the Professors and 95{6f65e1278338a62264eed73e2adc5af8e2841420db12ceb4f80b8db22f3260ec} of them have no visual resources. Some of the Lab and Tech classes gear barely works. Computers barely work in the Library and the elevators sometimes get stuck and are extremely slow. Women's bathrooms don't have trash cans, and some of the toilets don't flush. This is a Private University specializing in STEM, there is no investment in infrastructure nor resources and nobody seems to care.

Universidad Politecnica de Puerto Rico FAQS

  1. What is the Acceptance Rate at Universidad Politecnica de Puerto Rico?

The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Universidad Politecnica de Puerto Rico is 100%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.

  2. What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?

I think all of the possible stereotypes are well represented at my campus. Since there is such a diverse offer of curriculums and areas of study, we get students from all walks of life. There are jocks, who mainly focus on physical education studies and are our athletes. There are "nerds" and "geeks" that usually go for biology, computer engineering, physics, mathematics and chemistry. There are stoners, "hippies" and other oddities that study the area of Humanities, mainly Art, Art History, Theatre, History, Music and such. Thus, there is no one correct stereotype that summerizes the entire student population. It is diverse as it is colorful. The Institution gladly welcomes students from all over the country and from all socio-economics circumstances and prides itself in having such a well-rounded student body.

  3. What is your overall opinion of this school?

The best thing about my campus is the fact that it offers studies in almost every area known to man. It offers prospective students much flexibility in deciding what they want to study. The one thing I'd change is the focus on finacing the projects solely on the Natural Sciences and Buisness Administration and just amplifly it so it can cover areas such as the Humanities and the Liberal Arts as well. In my opinion, the school is rather big and its easy to lose your way. But personally, I enjoy big open spaces so I don't mind. Some people react in awe when they find out that I study there because its a rather picky school in terms of admissions when you compare it to the private institutions that let in almost anyone that can pay the tuition. On the other hand, some react negatively because my school has been subject to many student strikes and civil disobediences, wich most people find it desagreeble. I spend most of my time in the nearby shops, cafés and bookstores nestled tight around the campus grounds. The school's administration could do much better in possibly every area that they have jurisdiction. The worst is that they pretend to consult the faculties and the students of all sorts of issues that affect everyone but in reality the administrative board does not take heed of recomendations and counsil and acts very arbitrarily. The biggest controversy right now is the appalling incresing number of sexaul harrastment cases going around campus in almost any hour of day. There is a very strong school sentiment and pride coming from the student body. Especially when it comes to local and national sports competitions. The "unsualness" of this school might be in its diverse arrey of student and faculty. There is no one "mold" to witness. New comers might become over-whelmed by the striking diversity. I've always remember my first day as freshman. The senior classes always pull pranks and jokes on the newcomers. The most frequent student complaints are the continued lack of doing something concrete about the many harrasments and robberies that go on at school. The guards are not very handy in dealing with this disturbences.

I will say to me: Keylian when you get to college there will be so many options, but you have to be sure that the one you choose it is the right one. You have to choose a career that you enjoy and do not put limits on yourself. There is nothing imposible, if you want to study in the Polytechnic University, you can do it. You will make it no matter how many loans you have to make, but there is always the help. Ok? Just be yourself and no matter how many rocks are in your way, you will kick them away and will become a great annd smart student and proffesional.
